What a Freakin' Joke!!!!!
What a Freakin' Joke!!!!!
According to todays Post Gazette, Penn state has scheduled I-aa Youngstown State for September 2006 to replace the vacancy created by the pull-out of Lousiana Tech. WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL THOSE I-A SCHOOLS THAT HAD OPEN DATES AT THE SAME TIME?????????? After what all you Penn Staters said about teams playing I-aa schools, you should all be ashamed of yourselves.

I'm sure they'll tell you how good Youngstown State is or that they're better than Pitt or something. You know they won't admit they schedule bad teams for nonconference games. That's why they'll have a tough time making the national championship anytime soon. Real teams schedule real opponents for nonschedule games.

My oh my! How are the Nit fans going to spin this. Pitt took major abuse for scheduling Furman and Youngstown State to replace the losses of the ACC defectors.
The Nits insisted that there were several D1 schools with open dates, why did Pitt schedule these teams?
Well, you have replaced La Tech with Youngstown State. I guess all those D1 teams with open dates suddenly filled their schedules.
PSU would never schedule a D1-AA team would they?

See, this is where it comes in hand whenever I tried to make it like YSU was a credible team who might beat Pitt. Did nothing but defend Pitt for Furman, too.

They play Akron(MAC Champion in 2005) and Notre Dame also next year, IN SOUTH BEND. Either way you look at it, La. Tech or Youngstown State aren't very good opponents. Lest you forget that Penn State had Alabama on the schedule this year before Bama backed out when they were in the middle of thier coaching scandal and the NCAA probations. Keep getting on Penn State. What will you say when they win 8 games again next year?
When does Pitt play Ohio again? Ohio going for 2 IN A ROW BABY!!!

Hilltop Panther I am not sure where these vacancies because of teams leaving the Big East come from because they replaced all those teams and they played the games as nonconference games so get off the needed to fill games B.S.. But you are now ripping PSU because they had to fill a vacancy 1 year down the road thats less time than the Big East teams Had.

Get some new material bdftbllham55. You still turn every post of yours into a Pitt post. At least that part of your posts is consistent. Now if you could be consistent on your views of Pitt and PSU scheduling D1-AA's.
I know Alabama and La Tech pulled out of the contract with PSU. But you Nits abused Pitt for scheduling D1-AA teams when they had to replace three teams on their schedule when VT, Miami, and BC bolted.

If you are going to blast PSU, remember that it is late in the scheduling period for next year. They are not scheduling I-AA teams for 2, 3 years down the road. I don't blame them for picking YSU over someone like Clemson or Georgia Tech or somebody. These non-conference games are supposed to be victories, just like how boxers go 15-0 before they fight anyone "decent". The tough non-conference games that get scheduled are never a yearly thing with most teams, and are just some added spice now and again, if they are not huge rivalries like USC and ND or UGA and Ga. Tech.
This is the first time I remember PSU having to schedule a I-AA team. They are not Texas Tech or Kansas State.
I was under the impression Temple replaced La Tech. Once again I ask, what was the reasoning behind Tech pulling out?

One comment out of my post is all you can read Hilltop. I guess you missed the other part where I agreed with you that no matter who you get outta Youngstown or La. Tech that it's not a power conference football team. They do have 2 other good non-conference teams, Akron and Notre Dame. I know it's tough for you to comprehend something when I agree with you, but you know what, they'll win that game. That's all that matters. When you play in the Big 10, you don't have to boost your OOC games to make you look like a respectable team when you're 10-1, the competition in the conference alone is enough to earn you that 'national respect'.

TAE, from what I heard LA Tech joined a new conference and had to rearrange their schedule to fit their new conference schedule.
And I agree, it's not like PSU is scheduling them for the 2010 season.
