State Champ Changes Schools ????

State champ Carter changes schools — but will George Curry?
1/19/2006,
The Associated Press :

(AP) — Austin Carter, last year's P.I.A.A. Class (AAA) wrestling champion at 160 pounds while at Council Rock South High School, has transferred to Pennsbury High School. But he won't be eligible this season or, possibly, for the start of next season, either because of the PIAA's transfer rules.

Carter, a junior, was suspended by Council Rock South's administration for earlier this month for an unspecified violation of school policy, according to Council Rock South coach Brad Silimperi. The suspension likely would have prevented Carter from wrestling in the P.I.A.A. postseason tournaments.

With a 19-0 record this season up to the point of his suspension, Carter has a career record of 105-12 and has a 64-match winning streak. He has not lost a match since the 2004 P.I.A.A. championships.

He was 45-0 last year en route to his state championship.

ALSO OUT?@ Another high-profile wrestler, Juniata Valley's Garrett Scott, also could be lost for the season.

Scott, a three-time PIAA Class (AA) champion attempting to become the 10th wrestler to win four state championships, broke his jaw late last month.

Scott has a career record of 114-2 and won PIAA Class (AA) championships at 119 pounds in 2003, 130 pounds in 2004 and at 135 pounds last year.

Scott, a Penn State recruit, was 7-0 this year before the injury. He last participated in a dual meet on Dec. 22.
