heres a rant...jack***es that let their kids run around screaming during the National anthem...alot of men have bled and died for that flag and that song and people dont even have the gratitude to respect it
how many kids do you have? it is not always easy. sometimes i would almost rather remove my cap and stand than chase my kids around like a monkey during that part of it. but i'm sure someone at some point has intoleratly thought get control of your kids"! but hey there is only so much ritalin!!!
Exactly. If a parent chases his child during the anthem, more havoc would be wrought then naught. It is decidedly better to wait until afterwards. Then, if you can't teach your kid to respect the flag, you can at least teach him to respect the back of your hand.
so what? people cant discipline thier children at home so that when they are out in public the kids will know how to act??? my ol 'man beat the snot out of me any time i did something wrong and guess what? when we were in public, i never screwed up! amazing. discipline starts the moment they are born, but too many pansy-americans dont believe in that type of thing and just let their little satan-spawns run amuck. i dont blame the kids in that instance, i blame the parents. TAKE CONTROL YOU LAZY BASTARDS AND TEACH YOUR KIDS RIGHT FROM WRONG!!!!!!!!
Love your kids? Prove it by beating them.
Guys like Teddy "The Red-nosed Senator" Kennedy, who chairs the Senate ETHICS Committee, on his audacity to question ANYONE about ANYTHING regarding their past, a la Judge Sam Alito. Teddy, who was in an all-white private club at Harvard called the OWLS, that only had doings with other UBER-rich white guys. Teddy who failed to report a drunken auto accident for 10 hours after the fact, even though there was another person in the car with him, and the car ended up underwater. Mary Jo Kopechnie was unavailable for comment on this. How did he manage to escape the fate of his two older and much wiser brothers? Some things in this world just ain't right.
I like how often people here wish death onto others. Simply amazing.
You're in the military....You should know alcohol does some strange things to some people.

On another note: People who sing the National Anthem. If you can't sing it properly, with the respect it deserves, then don't. It is a song with a very low-to-high range. IMO, anyone singing it should be able to do so within the same key, without having to shift to another key or two just to do it. Makes it sound horrid.
Few people offer to sing the National Anthem. Would you rather it not be sung at all? Why don't you volunteer? Seriously, if you complain and do nothing constructive to solve it when you easily can: Shut the hell up. There are no solutions to this other then you singing. Oh, when you do, send me a recording. I think I would rather enjoy it.

That is absolutely the funniest thing I've ever heard coming from a liberal.

err, Lionpride I said no such thing. I believe Passarelli said it. If you would like to clear out a place, just have me sing the National Anthem. You thought Rosanne has a bad voice singing the Song wait until you hear me.

Does anyone remember the scene in Slapshot where during the Song the linesman tells the one Hansen brother his conduct will be under scrunity and the Hansen bros quote back??

Sorry Lemmy, quoted the wrong liberal.

Likewise if I sang it. There would be a mad rush for the doors. Hmmm, maybe I can get booked for the DNC..........

Didn't see that movie.

It was hilarious......great movie!

I was hoping I wouldn't have to say this over and over again. I AM NOT A LIBERAL! I wasn't long enough for all of you to forget where I stand.

If you can't sing it, why do you complain so much when others do? At least they try. The alternative is not having it sung at all. QED.

So Pass, you never think anyone does a bad job at something and that someone else could do better? You know, like this doctor is terrible and doesn't know what he is doing. But, oh well, peace, love, and harmony to the world.

You know, I could try to build a nuclear reactor. I might kill a million people around me, but at least I tried.

I'm going out now to hug a tree and pet a deer. Life is wonderful!!

The difference with this situation is thus: noone CAN do better. Read what I said. If someone that could expertly sing were to offer their services, they could sing too. Guess what? They don't.

Since passarelli (is that with cheese and sauce, or without?) can tell me to "shut the hell up", my response is "bite me, garlic breath". Then he WANTS me to open my mouth and sing one of the proudest songs in American history. Sorry, I , like many others, can't carry a tune in a 5 gal. bucket. And that is EXACTLY why it should be sung proudly and respectfully. If you can't do it justice, then either find someone who can, or there are plenty of taped arrangements we can force ourselves to listen to for a few minutes. Not everyone CAN sing it, but lots THINK they can. Ever been to karaoke? Case closed. One more note: If I have heard a person butcher the Star-Spangled Banner before, is it disrespectful to put in those soft foam earplugs and sing softly to myself?

OMFG, you actually made a solution! I am simply amazed! Not really though. You would rather listen to a recording then a live person sing? Personally, I don't think it has the same air about it. Very well though, I still say good job. You did something rarely done here. You actually offered a real viable solution.
