John Murtha Strikes Again

Post by frostlion »

http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/01/05/D8EUPP1O3.html

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs now suggests that his comments hurt recruting and troop morale.

Can someone with a chance please run against and defeat this clown??

Exactly.

And if anyone needs any proof that this kind of talk emboldens our enemies, read this story. It's a crying shame for someone to encourage our enemy for political gain. I think the term is a political whore, and Pelosi is the madam.

Murtha Blames the Military yet again:

The interview, a portion of which will appear on tonight's (13) CBS EVENING NEWS, will be broadcast on 60 MINUTES Sunday Jan. 15 (7:00-8:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

When Wallace challenges him by saying, "General Peter Pace, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, says your comments are damaging recruiting and hurting the troops," Murtha responds by saying it's the military's own fault. "[Troops] are rotated [into Iraq] four and five times. They have no clear mission," says Murtha. "One of the problems they have with recruitment is [that] they continually say how well things are going and the troops on the ground know better."

But even our commander in chief welcomes the debate:

George Bush on Jan. 10th:

There is a vigorous debate about the war in Iraq, and the President welcomes this debate. But this debate must be conducted responsibly when American troops are risking their lives overseas. There is a difference between honest critics who question the way the war is being prosecuted, and partisan critics who claim that we acted in Iraq because of oil, because of Israel, or because the American people were misled.

Murtha is questioning the way the war is being prosecuted. He hasn't accused the president of ulterior motives.

No one in this forum mentioned Bush. Notice that Murtha has singled out "the military" numerous times for criticism:
------------------
Murtha responds by saying it's the military's own fault. "[Troops] are rotated [into Iraq] four and five times. They have no clear mission," says Murtha. "One of the problems they have with recruitment is [that] they continually say how well things are going and the troops on the ground know better."
-----------------

Even though recruitment for the Army has met its goal for the seventh straight month.

And now, Murtha does accuse the president of ulterior motives, namely that troops levels in Iraq will be reduced because Bush wants his party to do well in the 2006 midterm elections, not because conditions warrant the reduction..

"You're going to see a plan for withdrawal," says Murtha, which he believes Congress will pass because of mounting pressure from constituents tired of the war that could affect the upcoming midterm elections. The political situation will force President Bush to accede to Congress, he says. "I think the political people who give [the president] advice will say to him, 'You donÕt want a democratic Congress. You want to keep a republican majority, and the only way you're going to keep it is by reducing substantially the troops in Iraq,'" Murtha says.

For quite some time now, everytime I see "OUR" representative on TV, the veins in my neck pop out pretty much the same way that the veins in my neck pop out everytime I drive from Johnstown to Bedford on the cow path.
I wish I had a copy of the Al Jazerra newspaper with his picture "above the fold". I would ask him to autograph it for me. I want to send a copy to my son, the Marine.
