There's A New Football Team Coming ???
FOOTBALL COMING?@: Football is coming to Northeastern High School in York County, but only if the community can raise more than $28,000 in three weeks.
Northeastern is the largest public school in District 3 without varsity football. For the last two years, a group of parents and potential players called the Northeastern Football Association has been trying to convince the school board to adopt football.
But the board has balked at covering the startup costs with taxpayer money, and would only give the go-ahead if the association could raise $180,000 before March 1.
The board approved the startup of junior high football this year, eventually leading to varsity football in 2008. The association is close to the amount they need, but still shy by about $28,500.
