Re: Seahawks Gift wrap the foot they shot off!!!
In any game, your view of officiating is skewed by who you are rooting for. It's very difficult to root hard for one team and see things objectively.
I was glad to see the Bettis get a ring, but I can understand why the Seahawks fans are bitter. By letter of the law, it was pass interference. However, the penalty made no difference in the outcome of the play. Hope had no chance of breaking up the pass. The holding call is a little more difficult. Certainly far worse things are missed or let go during the course of the game. John Madden didn't think it was holding, but many others, including the official, thought it was.
The thing that bothers Seattle fans is that the borderline calls all went to the Steelers. Thats life, deal with it.
In any game, especially championships, I would hope that officials would let the borderline calls go and let the players play the game. I hate games where officials become the focal point. A well officiated game is one where nobody even notices the refs. The Steelers won the game, but I do not think it was well officiated.

As a Steeler fan I'm upset about a few calls there Young Dumb 22.
1) I'm upset that the Hasselback Fumble got overturned. He clearly tripped over his own feet, fell down and fumbled the football. If that play is a fumble the Steelers win by 21 and I win my Superbowl Pole.
2) I'm mad about the no call on the Seatle INT return where Roethisberger was clearly blocked in the back. It was in the Open field for goodness sake and they didn't even call it!!! If that call goes back Seattle would of gotten the ball on their own 30 instead of the Steeler 25. Pittsburgh would again of gotten better field position, scored, and I would of won my SuperBowl Pole.
3) The Stevens Incompletion that was should of been a fumble. Farrior (I believe he was the one standing there) could of easily picked that ball up, rumbled back 80 yards for a TD, and I would of again, won my Pole.
Ever hear the phrase "Losers Cry, winners go home and **** the prom queen".
Well all the Steelers are at home by now, expect for Hines Ward, he is in Disney World with Cinderella. You can finish the rest.

And the last thing I must tell you...NEVER QUIT!
young gun 22,
First off. Why don't you write a complaint and mail it into the NFL head of officiating if you felt the game was totally blown by the officials. You hold so much clout that they should instantly fire all the officals for that game. How can you say that the same penalty should be called on the defense, and not on the offensive player? Once the ball is in the air, it's anybodies. That means the reciever can not stop the defensive player from getting the ball and vice versa. Jackson pushed off and extended his arm to gain an advantage. You're not allowed to do that. In highschool or professional level of football. They didn't call the holding penalties after the passes were caught. They threw them when they saw them happen. Is it the ref's fault that Seattle actually happened to have good plays on those downs when they decided to cheat to give themselves an advantage? Hardly.
Opinionguy said it best. Everybody forgets about those calls that were missed because they would have also been in favor of the Steelers, they only want to bring out the ones that hurt Seattle.

o, i already wrote a letter to the nfl. And that block in the back that wasnt call is exactly as it was called, not a block in the back. He turned and put his back toward the defender, makin it legal to block him in the back. and o yea and the hasselback fumble was actually called right. He was touched before he hit the ground and then the ground caused the fumble. It is a clear rule in the nfl to call. O yea, and stevens had to make a football move, he never turned before he got hit. So it was considered an incomplete pass. O yea and beford dude the safety that was coverin him was the backup for the one that got hurt so they basically knew the trick play would work on him. O well i know the steelers won but now the entire world is asking if that game was rigged. The nfl is gonna have to say somthin about it sooner or later.

So now you're gonna say that stated rules in the rulebook are acceptable now, right? If it says that he's allowed to be blocked in the back in that situation, then it's ok. If Hasselbeck being brushed by Larry Foote constitutes him being down, that's fine because it's in the rule book, right? You'll even go as far as saying that Stevens has to make a football move before it's a fumble, but you'll sit and argue the validity of the offensive pass interferece penalty that is clearly stated(more clear than what an actual football move is) and try to argue that that was a clean play? You're destroying your own argument here by refusing to look at the situation objectively. If you can let one thing slide, you can let all things slide. They called the game the way it should be called. And now all the whine-**** anti-Steeler fans and ballbaby Seattle fans are crying foul. Amazing, isn't it...

wo wo wo, the ofensive pass interference is not supposed to be called like that, and that is straight from the mouth of every espn person that got aired after the superbowl and during it.

How many of them have ever been officals in the NFL? NONE. They're basing everything they say on their own opinion. I've heard from Merril Hodge that it was the correct call. The NFL has yet to state that any call was the incorrect call, like the Polamalu decision. Until they do that, you have to assume that all the calls were made the correct way by the rulebook that the NFL officials go by. Get off your horse, you're not gonna change anything.
BTW, if you really did write a letter to the NFL, I hope you used a little better grammar than what you've used on here thus far. They'll think you're 10 years old or something, if they even read it, that is...
