On Thursday, the W.P.I.A.L. released its football schedules for the "2006" season. One of the interesting things about the schedule is in Class (AA).
There are five conferences in Class (AA) and all five begin conference games the first week of the season. However, every team in Class (AA) will have one open week during the season. They can schedule a game against any opponent.
That means five teams will have an open date every week. Four of them can schedule games against each other. But that will leave one team without a game every week.
“We tried to let schools know that this was going to happen,” said W.P.I.A.L. Executive Director Larry Hanley. “We’ve tried to give them some options of teams in other districts that are looking for games. Hopefully, things will work out.”
