McCort Wrestling?
Anyone heard any news on Bishop McCort starting their own wrestling program? A few people in the wrestling community have been talking about it. It would follow suit with all the advertising they've been doing lately? They are really trying to get the kids there.
Just curious if anybody else heard anything on this topic, though?

I heard Coach Pecora is volunteering @ McCort and may give up his day job @ UPJ. Could his son be far behind? Also believe a few transfers are lined up from CC and CR(long commutes) as well as the 2 or 3 transfers from Iowa. Now with all the available sponsorships; building a program should be no problem!

Does every thread about Bishop McCort have to turn into pointless chatter about recruiting?

Sorry bout that, but I figured I would just beat everyone else to the rumor mill. Of course no one I know of is transferring. I believe BM is hinging hopes of finding someone experienced enough to run a half decent program. I do not believe they even have a mat as yet.
I also think one of the impetuses(besides it being a great sport to offer) is the fact that Jtwn. would not allow interested kids(from McCort) to compete on their team any longer!

Does Johnstown have some sort of "co-op" with McCort anyway? I always thought that if you attended McCort, and they didn't have a specific sport, that you could do that sport in the district where you reside. For example, if you live in Richland, go to school at McCort, and McCort does not have wrestling, then you just go back to Richland. Don't you pay taxes there? How can you live in Richland, attend school at McCort, and wrestle for Johnstown??????

Re: McCort Wrestling?
It doesn't necessarily have to be in your school district. It just depends on what schools make an agreement with other schools. Carroll has a co-op with Portage wrestling, even though most of the kids that compete for Carroll don't live in Portage. They also have a co-op with Central Cambria with cross-country, but that doesn't mean that the athletes have to be in CC's school district.
The decision is the adminstrator's to make.

So, does McCort have a co-op with Johnstown or not? And if a kid from Spangler goes to Bishop Carroll and wants to wrestle, he has to wrestle for Portage instead of Northern Cambria??????

Unfortuneately, that's how it works. A freshman from Northern Cambria commutes all the way to Carroll for school, then Portage for practice.
A lot of miles must be put on there.
