LHAC Week 8 Preview

Post by Opinionguy »

Week 8 Preview:

Sorry fellow posters…didn’t know if Bleacher Coaches was going to be up or not for this week, so I didn’t do a preview. We’ll call this the abbreviated version.

After a huge weekend in week 7, this week is rather quiet and offers only ONE big time game.

Bishop McCort hosting Cambria Heights
28-0 Crushers…by the end of the first quarter. Don’t be surprised if Kenny keeps the starting D in a little longer tonight in order to pitch the shut out. Hey, it does mean something the win the LHAC title…and if that’s the 3rd tie breaker….than you gotta play for it.

Crushers by 50...at least!

Forest Hills @ Somerset

After getting passed all over the last few weeks will the Rangers make some adjustments in the secondary? Well, I already know the answer to that, but I’ll leave it to Somerset and Johnstown to find out.

Rearick and the Rangers get back on track in a big way as they take out their frustrations on the Eagles.

FH 46 – Somerset 13

Central at Westmont

Westmont still has an outside shot at making the playoffs, but they need to win out in order to do so. This game will be no gimme as the Central’s run defense has played tough all season long.

Expect to see a quality match up of two of the premier big man receivers in Kody Stiffy vs. Nick Khuri as they most likely will match up against each other all night.

These teams are very similar, but you gotta like Westmont at home anytime the game is a toss up.

Hilltoppers playoff hopes will still be alive….barely! WH by 4.

Central Cambria at Bishop Carroll

Two programs and two coaches suffering from disappointing seasons thus far clash in this local rivalry. After all of the controversy surrounding Central Cambria the last couple weeks, this week is going to be their breaking out party as some younger players like McGregor and Cornetti rise up and take the reigns and get the Devils back on track.

Central Cambria finally can call themselves the best team in Ebensburg…even with a Sub .500 record!

Devils 26 – Huskies 13

Richland Hosting Penn Cambria

Penn Cambria is coming off a huge win over Forest Hills last week, and they face a beat up and battered Ram squad. That’s bad news for the Rams, as Matt Holsberger has a lot of aggression to take out after being neutralized last week by FH’s Josh Shope.

Pecora will get his yards…but in the end expect Holsbeger to go for 30 carries and 170 yards plus as the Rams have no answer for this STUD!

PC 40 – Richland 20

***GOTW***

Bedford @ Johnstown

Quietly...Bedford has been winning each week…quietly. Nobody has been talking about Bedford lately after their back to back dismantling at the hands of FH and PC. But, the Bison have been getting better, and getting healthier.

Johnstown on the other hand is coming off a thumping that was expected by most at the hands of Bishop McCort. Johnstown’s cupcake schedule is over, and they are about to enter the meat of their schedule.

Johnstown’s line got embarrassed last week as they had no answer for the BM rushing attack. Expect Bedford to come with the same game plan both offensively and defensively as BM did last week. BM was very successful in holding Reed in check, and the Bison will need to do the same if they hope to come away with an important W.

Last week was a huge shot to the egos of the Trojan…and the OG doesn’t think they’ll recover in time for this game. They might be better than Bedford…but the OG thinks Bedford is a little tougher.

Bedford 22 – Johnstown 20

The OG apologizes for the brief write-up…we’ll do better next week!

But as always…Good luck to all teams!
And the last thing I must tell you...NEVER QUIT!

Still a good write-up Op.! Agree with your logic in GOTW (Bedford/Jtwn) but think there may well be a lot of big plays & scores in the high 20's to mid 30's.
And BM will not score 50....jv offense will play entire 2nd half, if up by 3 or more scores, & simply run time off clock....but defense will remain on field.
I have to say thank you to me ..." for not being stupid enough to go to Penn State."
