the goal of any season in any sport is to win championships, to win a championship you must make the playoffs, the games that are counted towards playoffs are meaningful, those not counted towards playoffs are meaningLESS as they do not contribute what so ever to end goal of a championship (and no, the D5AA title is NOT a championship).
I garuantee you that if ridge gets completely annihilated against tyrone, they will still consider this year a success becuase they "beat bedford." I GARUANTEE IT!

most teams have multiple goals in the course of a season, not just one....
winning is the goal....championships follow winning...but since championships are not possible for all, then winning becomes the goal for all...
and if winning every game you play is not your goal, then you are not championship material...you better reevaluate your goals...

Ok genius, ask Tussey Mt which season was more of a success...their 3-6 last year with a district final appearance or their 5-4 season this year with a first round loss?
great theory you got there. It doesn't matter how many or which games you win throughout the season, its all about getting to and winning the big one, and my friend this game had nothing to do with getting to the big nor winning the big one, so therefore it was a meaningless game!
To win every game you play is virtually impossible, the NFL has had what 40+ seasons and only ONE team has gone undefeated? I don't think ANY team realisitically believes they will win EVERY game. sure you can try, but if that game doesn't help/hurt you in the playoffs then who really cares? It might as well be a scrimmage for all I care.

so, what you're saying Gunner is that if you didn't think the game meant much, you packed it in? hmmm...
if Bedford had won the game, it wouldn't have been as meaningless (at least according to the probably posts on here)...
and remember, Tussey had to WIN games to get to the finals....they didn't win the CHAMPIONSHIP....but those wins were still important...
My opinion only....as a coach and a player, I've never wanted to take a loss in a meaningless game...and, unfortunately, there were times where playing for a championship wasn't going to happen...
hopefully you play to win where you are now...

even though I'm not from Bedford or CR, I've read enough on here to see the relationship...
for some success is defined as a season....for some, success is defined game by game....
it just amazes me that supposedly competitive people would get on here and say a game, any game, but especially a rivalry game, would be meaningless...
of course, Bedford probably doesn't view it as a rivalry..

Don't pay attention to gunner and ham. Well, at least don't take them seriously. They are probably doing their best to aggravate, and it works just about every time.
This game wasn't meaningless to Bedford fans, and I hope not the players either. If it was, why was the Bedford side of the stands full and people standing around the sidelines.
It may have been meaningless as far as playoff points go, but that's it. Yes, I'm sure it was meaningless to the Bedford players. I'm sure they don't care that they were the first team to lose to Ridge.
If it was so meaningless, then the Bedford team should have put up 40 points in the first half, and then the starters could have watched from the bench in the second. That would have truly proven that the game was meaningless to them.
Ridgestar, just be thankful that wish didn't come true the last couple of seasons. This Bedford team does not even begin to compare to the last two seasons. But anything is possible.
