Upset specials.............
Just when you thought Susquenita had scored the biggest upset of Week One... NO! The 0-3 Blackhawks did not upset Greencastle-Antrim Friday night.
Unfortunately, the scoring was reversed in a box score in Saturday’s Patriot-News. G-A, last year’s District #3-(AAA) runner-up, actually won the Mid-Penn crossover 47-38 to improve to 3-1.
So the upset special for Week One goes to Mechanicsburg after the Wildcats took out Susquehanna Twp. 69-60.
Both teams were undefeated entering the early-season Mid-Penn Keystone showdown but as the reigning District D#3-(AAA) champs with three starters back, the Indians were the natural favorite.
Bob Strickler is becoming the “McGyver” of basketball coaches. It’s not that he doesn’t have talented players at Mechanicsburg. But sometimes it feels like he really does put wins together with a paper clip, a wad of gum and a tube sock.
The Wildcats are back up in (AAAA) this year but speaking of District #3 and Class (AAA) ... if Steel-High’s young talent comes together, look for them to break hearts come tournament time. Nobody’s picking them to win it at this point but they could play quite the spoiler.
Rollers coach Mike Pilsitz said; “We’re looking forward to their progression.”
So are we, Mike. So are we.
