W.P.I.A.L. Wrestling Section Win Streak Finally Ends...

The W.P.I.A.L. longest team wrestling winning streak ended on Wednesday night when the Hempfield Spartans won "10" of the "14" matches in beating the Connellsville Falcons 44-16 at Connellsville High School.
The loss ends the Falcons mighty ride of "118" straight section wins spanning over a "14"-year stretch. The last time Connellsville was knocked off in a W.P.I.A.L. team wrestling section match was on February 6, 1993 when they lost to Mount Pleasant 31-21.
With the win, Hempfield is now tied with Albert Galatin for the top spot in Class (AAA) Section #2 with two weeks left in the regular season.
