W.P.I.A.L. Team Wrestling Playoff Picture....

The 2006-2007 WPIAL Team Wrestling regular season is winding down to only two more days left with the curtain coming down Wednesday night on section play. The WPIAL steering committee will set the playoff brackets for both Class AAA and Class AA on Thursday, with both tournaments taking place next week.

Here is a rundwon of the teams that have clinched and the teams still in the hunt for a postseason berth in the WPIAL Team Wrestling playoffs.

CLASS AAA SECTION 1:

* Penn-Trafford (8-0) and Latrobe (7-1) have clinched playoff spots
* Plum (6-2) is at Kiski Area (6-2) on Wednesday night with the winner clinching a playoff spot

CLASS AAA SECTION 2:

* Hempfield (7-0), Albert Gallatin (6-1) and Connellsville (6-1) have all clinched playoff spots

CLASS AAA SECTION 3:

* North Allegheny (8-0), Fox Chapel (7-1) and North Hills (7-1) have all clinched playoff spots

CLASS AAA SECTION 4:

* Waynesburg (8-0), Bethel Park (7-1) and McGuffey (7-1) have all clinched playoff spots

CLASS AAA SECTION 5:

* Canon-McMillan (8-0) and Trinity (7-1) have clinched playoff spots
* Chartiers Valley (6-2) hosts Mount Lebanon on Wednesday while West Allegheny (6-2) hosts Montour on Wednesday and Trinity visits Canon-McMillan on Wednesday
* If Trinity beats Canon-McMillan AND both Chartiers Valley and West Allegheny win or they both lose, Chartiers Valley clinches a playoff spot based on the head-to-head tiebreaker with West Allegheny. West Allegheny would need a win and a Chartiers Valley loss to clinch a playoff spot
* If Trinity loses to Canon-McMillan AND both Chartiers Valley and West Allegheny win, then both Chartiers Valley and West Allegheny clinch a playoff spot based on a three-way tie with Trinity and no winner in the head-to-head tiebreaker (WA beat Trin, Trin beat CV, CV beat WA). However if Trinity loses and both Chartiers Valley and West Allegheny lose, Chartiers Valley clinches a playoff spot based on head-to-head tiebreaker with West Allegheny


CLASS AA SECTION 1:

* Burgettstown (9-0) and South Side Beaver (7-1) have clinched a playoff spot
* Carlynton (6-3) is at South Park on Wednesday, Fort Cherry (6-3) is at Burgettstown on Wednesday, West Greene (6-3) is at South Park on Tuesday and Chartiers-Houston (5-3) is at South Side Beaver on Tuesday and home to Washington on Wednesday
* If all four schools finish with 7-3 records, here is the head-to-head records of the four teams (Carlynton 2-1, Chartiers-Houston 1-2, Fort Cherry 1-2, West Greene 2-1)

CLASS AA SECTION 2:

* Derry (9-0), Mount Pleasant (8-1) and Keystone Oaks (7-2) have all clinched playoff spots

CLASS AA SECTION 3:

* Burrell (9-0) and Highlands (8-1) have clinched playoff spots
* Elderton (7-2) hosts Kittanning on Wednesday while Shady Side Academy (7-2) is at Riverview on Wednesday and Highlands hosts Burrell
* If Highlands beats Burrell AND both Elderton and Shady Side Academy win or they both lose, Elderton clinches a playoff spot based on the head-to-head tiebreaker with Shady Side Academy. Shady Side Academy would need a win and an Elderton loss to clinch a playoff spot
* If Highlands loses to Burrell AND both Elderton and Shady Side Academy win, then both Elderton and Shady Side Academy clinch a playoff spot based on a three-way tie with Highlands and no winner in the head-to-head tiebreaker (High beat Eld, Eld beat SSA, SSA beat High). However if Highlands loses and both Elderton and Shady Side Academy lose, Elderton clinches a playoff spot based on head-to-head tiebreaker with Shady Side Academy
