The people at District 6 once again show how clueless they are. The system for basketball is simple. A win over a Class A team is worth 5 points, Class AA is 6 points, Class AAA is 7 points, and Class AAAA is 8 points. Any win over a team with a winning percentage over .700 is worth an additional 2 points. It isn't very complicated. For it to take them three times to get it right is pathetic.

The system stinks anyway because of the disparity in schedules. You're better off going out and scheduling cupcakes. If you play a challenging schedule and lose a few your seed is bad.

The WPIAL is much larger than District 6, yet they are able to put together a committee to seed the teams. Why can't District 6?

I think D6 would be wise to release their ratings periodically to the media and schools as D5 does in Jan/Feb and then they would save themselves all this embarassment if they are going to continue using a ranking system. Why do they keep it "top secret" anyway? If they publish results occassionally mistakes would be caught by the schools involved and with much less fanfare than when they release playoff brackets and have to change them several times!

Well said HR & factman you are right on:
And lhFAN
My guess would be that Bishop McCort must have filled their paper out wrong or added something wrong and their points were not as they should have been.
No, BM was okay.... by PV being bumped up BM was bumped back!

My guess is that McCort would've made it to championship game @ the 6 seed! As you note:
I'm guessing it was Bellwood who called in and complained because they would now have to play McCort 1st round and Central play Penns Valley..... which is a shame because the 3 best teams in my opinion are in the same bracket.
Vman, the second time the seedings were switched was because McCort and Central didnt completly fill in all of their points on their papers. (I don't blame them for trying to pull a fast one to drop lower in the seedings, and it almost worked) getting the 6 seed in this case is 10 times better than 4 or 5, seeing that you would have an easy road to the finals as the 6 seed but 4 or 5 you would have to play Westmont in the semis.

Will certainly take your word on that but is it not ridiculous that a D6 committee cannot calculate this on their own??

I mean if 1 - 22 CDHS (Can't Dribble H.S.) submits their record as 22-1, would the District calculate the seedings then react when someone points out that the coach @ CDHS is dyslexic and all their fans & players also have developmental reading disorders?

But knowing what I know....nothing those idiots do surprises me!!!!!!!!!!!

How many teams advance into the state playoff? Top 2 or 3?

Top 2 in AAA
Top 3 in AA
Top 4 in A ( a little strange considering there are only 8 teams in the D6 A field)

And yes , Vman it is ridiculous that they cant add it up on their own. In the end that is what ended up happening to get it right, but if they would have just done that the first time instead of being lazy there wouldnt have had to be any revisions or confusions, plus they wouldnt have to make themselves look bad.

Did find out that BM did infact make a mistake....they gave themselves credit for a win over a AA school for defeating Bedford earlier in year.
Problem is Bedford is AAA (that recruiting must have bumped them up in hoops)?? Did not know this & that win then carried more points than BM had turned in.

The committee still should have their own count done before even looking @ the teams tabulations!

Here is another thought on how stupid the seeding system is, presently!

Now one receives extra points if any teams they beat had a winning record of 70% or higher. But that record is based on opponents winning % when records are turned in......Okay how 'bout this scenario.....Team A has beat team B twice and when records were turned in, Team B's record was one win from being over 70%.....okay team A gets no bonus points for the 2 wins......but Team B has a regular season game left & they win; then they win the LH championship......that's 2 wins & they are solidly over 70% for the yaer but poor olde Team A gets bubkus????
