Who needs a new coach more?
Let me start off with Pitt...
Dave has no clue makes terrible personel descions...Eg.The ongoing QB situation,McCoy not touching it enough, making position changes every week, not recruiting depth on the lines Hes flat out bad.....and his coordinators gotta go Rhodes is about 5 years overdue Cavanaugh's play calling is horrific We got to have the worst 3rd down efficency in all of College Football and he is to blame Pitt's Offense will be loaded next year and i pray to God someone else better be coaching it
and now for you guys
......All hail the wisest of all coaches in the FBS Joe hasnt called a play in a decade
Your offense is disgraceful. there are 4 and 5 stars all through the depth charts and still.....nothing! Bradley is doing a good job with the Defense...But thats only half the battle recruits everntually arennt gonna come to a place where the will be under used a coaching change is vital
So argue it all you want
Its pretty clear Pennsylvania does not have a coaching cradle

Re: Who needs a new coach more?
Its like my buddy Leonard said to me at work last night: "Football in Pennsylvania is dead."
Pitt:
- I honestly do not think Wannstedt needs to go. He can clearly recruit, and he's a good guy. But his legacy at Pitt is going to be tarnished over his lack of iron when dealing with these coaching-personnel decisions. I can't tell you how happy I was as a PSU fan when they decided to bring those coordinators back at Pitt. For Pitt, that's REAL bad. I can't repeat enough how there are patterns with these coaches in college football. Paul Rhodes has been terrible for the entire time he has been there. Cavanaugh was hired from that Ravens job, and people acted like it was some kind of major hiring. I guess people don't realize how bad Baltimore's offense really was. Well, now we're seeing the same garbage at Pittsburgh. Just get rid of them, Dave!!! Pitt clearly has talent, Wanny can still get quality players despite poor records... its a coaching change that needs to be made, and not at the head-coaching level.
Penn State:
- It's basically the same situation. Keep Bradley either as head coach or as defensive coordinator, the latter is probably going to require a large sum of money being thrown on the table. So be it. Pay the guy. Don't pull a Buffalo Bills and hire people because they have a cheap price-tag. You're seeing how that is working for Buffalo, and they honestly might not win a game this season. And why would they? Back to Penn State... this program has enormous weight in the sense of attracting quality candidates. Hopefully every single offensive coach will quit when Paterno leaves, so that there is not a messy firing session up there. Because, well, none of them should be retained. Hopefully this weekend will not be the closest Ferentz ever comes to walking a Penn State sideline, if you catch my drift. He can win here. So can a large amount of other quality candidates. But the writing has been on the wall since 1999, folks. How much more evidence could you possibly need? We need an overhaul.
Both programs are very adept at under-utilizing their talent on offense. It's a shame that McCoy isn't getting the ball way more than he is. He's such a good running-back, and I figured they'd pound him down people's throats every down, but it is just not happening, for whatever strange reason. Then look at those receivers at Penn State. Best receivers in the conference, and they can't use them properly. If you are worried about the offensive line, why aren't you dropping Moronelli into a shotgun formation? Why is Joe Paterno allowing this staff to run a 15 yard offense when they have more WR speed than anyone they'll see all season? Morelli is as unintelligent as a quarterback as you'll find, but he has a cannon for an arm. Why did Penn State stop going deep to Deon Butler? Why has Deon Butler disappeared from this offense? Why do you have a fullback who is strong as hell and very uniquely fast for his position, very good at catching passes out of the backfield, and you are not running direct snaps or quick-hitters with this kid? It is disgusting how bad this offensive staff really is.

I would disagree, just bad coaching from Wanny, and Paterno hanging on too long. other than that PA still pumps out plently of D-1 talent and NFL talent as well.

Wannstedt has got us this far with recuiting but someone else needs to takes us to the next level on the field........
First of All without an AD it would be hard to hire a coach but who do you think would be some guys that could come to Pitt.....I know Bo Pelini was mentioned in our last search maybe even Russ Grimm

Re: Who needs a new coach more?
Well... Grimm isn't gonna leave the Cards yet, esp. if you mean for next season.
I don't know if Pellini is a real possibility either. Maybe Frank Solich. Maybe Brookhart at Akron. There's 2 good possibilities off the top of my head.

Re: Who needs a new coach more?
well Pellini was msntioned because of Long's big 12 roots so he may be out unless he wants to become a Head Coach sooner then later
Solich would be a great hire because he got fired for being 9-3 in the Big 12 nothing wrong with that if he came to Pitt and was 9-3 with the occasional 11-1 or so

Re: Who needs a new coach more?
Either way, I think you give Wanny 2 more seasons. After this year, force him to replace coordinators, and then you have 2 full seasons for them to mesh. If they're still losing to UCONN, time to go in a whole new direction.
