The Wilkins, Shoemaker rumor mill

Post by oldsport »

Here is the latest rumor that I've heard on the Wilkins, Shoemaker situation at CR. Heard it from a CR fan who told me that this is what he heard was going around the CR area. Wilkins is leaving CR and going to Everett to teach and be the head Football coach and Shoemaker will not be allowed to coach at CR because the new league they are joining (WestPac??) dosen't let administrators be coaches. I really find it hard to believe that a league could have a say in who can or can't coach. If anyone has any information on this I would really like to know. As I said this is just a rumor I have no more proof other than what I was told by one CR fan.

oldsport,

"and Shoemaker will not be allowed to coach at CR because the new league they are joining (WestPac??) dosen't let administrators be coaches. I really find it hard to believe that a league could have a say in who can or can't coach"

First, CR has paid the fee to the WestPAC conference to be considered for admission. This does not guarantee them anything. The AD's and Principals will vote on this issue in February.

Second, if CR is admitted to the conference, they could have anyone they want coach, regardless of whether they are a school administrator or not. This is a school district policy, not a league policy.

I love the sounds of that!! Although I highly doubt any of it to be true.

However, Coach Shoemaker couldn't coach at Bedford because he was an administrater. He is no longer at Bedford. Which from what I can tell means he can come on back and coach!! Since the rule only states that Bedford administaters can't be head coaches at Bedford.

Ok first things first, Joezy you are exactly right I got some info from a realiable source that it is a school districts decision on administrators coaching and not the conference and that there are a few coaches in the WestPac right now that are administrators. And lefteye I do believe it would be the proverbial snowballs chance in hell that Ridge would hire Shoemaker as a principle and then allow him to come back to Bedford and coach.

First of all i believe its the district who makes a rule on weather or not an administor can coach. I dont think the WestPac could do that, but Ridge isnt even in the WestPac yet either and frankly i dont think they will get in who would vote them in Shade and Ferndale come on!

Ridge go indy or find another team and get in the Laurel Highlands
