The Pitt and Penn State fans love to argue on this site, it is the reason we should play each other. Even as a Pitt fan, it is becoming painful to watch JoePa lose complete control of his team. Trust me, I could care less what happens to that program other than I would love if we played each other. But Joe is really embarassing the school he loves so much.

Just last week, Joe lifted the "Clean the Stadium" punishment from his team. Was he unaware of the incident reported in today's PG? The incident happened five weeks ago. The man has no idea.

I admit, I do not like Joe Paterno for the simple fact that he coaches Penn State. As a coach, I respect what he has accomplished at Penn State. As a coach, I feel bad for what he has allowed Penn State to become.

What bothers me is the "Holier-than-thou" and sanctimonious attitude that Paterno has espoused in his books, like "Football: MY Way". His arrogance and can-do-no-wrong attitude, along with his blind, blue-and-white legion of cult supporters used to make me SICK...Then it became COMICAL over the past few years...Now, as hilly says, it's becoming sad and makes me actually feel sorry for the fact that PSU is living in a dream world because many still think the PSU football program is so perfect.

Paterno has no idea, and the proof is as hilltoppanther says...That fight happened FIVE WEEKS AGO, and his half a**ed attempt at discipline (making his players clean the stadium) was lifted a few weeks later...as if he didn't know it happened (scary thing is, JOKEpa is so out of touch with his players, maybe he actually DIDN'T know about it!) What a joke.

Sad that JOKEPa doesn't even realize that his program is currently a lot closer to Switzers and Sherrills than he thinks.

You know what, Hilltop? You are not the first non-PSU fan I have heard say "I'm not even a fan and I still cringe". It really is a travesty.

As for him "not knowing"... that couldn't be closer to the truth. In this year's Town and Gown preseason magazine, Joe was heard asking his assistant coaches if Chris Bell was on the team last season. Chris Bell had a silent year this year because of whatever, but last year he actually had a nice year for a freshman. The point is, Chris Bell was a part of the offense, and was noticeable out there. He didn't even realize he was on the team? How about this one... Josh Hull was doing well in practice and was starting to get a little playing time. Joe Paterno, in a press conference, did not know that kid's name. He said "that kid from up the road" b/c Hull is from the surrounding area. Are we honestly so clueless that we don't even take the time to learn our kid's names, 4-5 weeks into the season? I realize Joe Paterno has coaches a lot of players, but I see this as severe disrespect. Then, a few weeks ago, the media criticized the offensive line. Paterno stood up for his line coaches and pointed out that "that kid that plays for the Giants" was doing okay. That kid is Kareem McKenzie. McKenzie has been in the NFL for SEVEN YEARS. Do you not remember his name? Come on, now.

The point I am making here is that there is an accumulation of little things that all add up to Joe Paterno not even knowing who his players are. I'm not going to allow myself to get disgusted as I type this, because this garbage has been making me sick in the stomach since 1999.

Hopefully all this add's up in the extremly near future and Joe WILL Go. It's very sickening to see what's going on up there. 2 offenses by one player in a span of what, 6 months? How long until he goes out and seriously hurts someone because he's a dumbass. I know there is another thread about PSU's scholarships and how they remove them from 5th year guys. Chris Baker is 1 kid that should have his scholarship removed ASAP. The school felt they would do him a nice thing and give him a 100,000+ dollar scholarship and he's done nothing but put himself into situations where he ends up getting into a fight. It's lack of discipline and respect. And it all starts at the top. When you're coach is 8 f*ckin' 1 years old and doesn't know who Chris Bell is and thinks Morelli has been doing great things for the past 2 years teams and not holding them back, you've got severe problems. Let alone the rash of legal problems over the past 10 years.

It's time for someone to step up, and tell Joe to step down. It may take an act of God, but I'm not beyond asking for that at this point.

I read the headline on the sports page in the Bedford Gazette today that said something to the effect "PSU looks to go out with Win; Joe Pa not retiring", I wanted to throw up. He's dragging the program down, now to the point where it's being drug through the dirt. It's sick. Absolutely sick.

I think it is time for Joe Paterno to step down from head coach. The biggest thing I am worried about is who will they get. Will they go out and get a proven coach that is a head coach for another successful program such as say Iowa or Rutgers or will they hire Jay Paterno or Tom Bradley and continue mediocracy for another 2 decades. Joe will probably pass Bowden or Tie him by the end of the year. Bowden probably be let go by Flordia State at the end of this year. Flordia State is making the commitment for success will Penn State do the same thing? Notice I said that Joe Paterno needs to step down from head coach, not leave the program all together. Let him stick around and help out (or at least make him feel like he is helping out) until he wants to enjoy the final years of his life and retire, he has earned that right. Fans need to start to make the University know that we want success every year (Not one good team every 4 or 5 years). Galen Hall, Jay Paterno, and Dick Anderson can find their way out the door as well.

The worst thing that could happen to Penn State's program right now is for them to keep winning 8-9 games a season. Because that shows the idiot fans and alumni that we're really close to contention. We're not close, at all. They look awesome against the worst teams in the NCAA, and get outcoached in every loss. They are NOT close to contention.

Paterno is an ego maniac concerned with putting distance between Bobby Bowden on the all time list. He will not retire until Bowden does or dies.

Titan is actually surprised that a few Nittany Lions' fans don't buy into JoePa's BS. If Titan would take his anti-PSU blinders off for a minute, he might find that many PSU fans with a hint of football knowledge don't buy into the lines Joe's been feeding everyone.
