Are you ready for Eddie?!?!?!

Post by Coach »

Titan has picked about this in the past. These Nits are young and they have people excited about PSU hoops again. Today is a HUGE day for them because a loss today and Tues against Wisky puts them back into a place where a lot of people once again could care less about PSU hoops. I'm heading up with HR in a few minutes and am super excited. My other fave, UConn, has a big game today against GTown at 2 as well.

GO STATE!

That's a shame, how many free throws did PSU miss? 19 or 20? OMG they should have been up double digits...oh, well they were but well....they're still PSU b-ball.

The guy sitting behind me at the game told me that they missed their last 10 and 14 of their last 16 free throws. How do you have a 16 point lead with the ball and about 12 minutes to go and lose at home? Nits have to get a win off of wisconsin or indiana to have any hopes of being a serious contender.

Nice crowd today....

Bad play by the team. Coaching was fine...kids that have college scholarships for hoops should NOT be missing that many free throws. Up 16 with 12 minutes left...and you blow it because you just can't hit free throws?!?!?!

Bad loss for the program. Had they won, they could lose Tuesday and still be a team that the area fans are talking about. Now if they lose to Wisky or both them and IU (which is very possible) then this team goes from being discussed to back to the same ol' team with no crowd for the rest of the year. Man that really was a painful loss today. Hopefully the team can pull one out Tues against Wisky.

Can someone tell me why everyone is calling the Nits so young????? Shall we discuss their line-up? Gerry Claxton is a 4th year senior, started since his freshman year. Jamelle Cornley, a former Mr. Ohio in high school, is a junior who has played 3 years as a starter. Danny Morrissey is a 4th year junior, a three year letterman who's been starting here and there throughout his career. Brandon Hassel, three year letterman who is a senior starter alternating with Andrew Jones recently. Taylor Battle is indeed a true freshman. The first guys off the bench are Mike Walker, a 4th year senior who has started over the years for the Nits, and Stanley Pringle who played 2 years as a junior college transfer in Florida and is considered a junior in the eyes of the NCAA. So where is this youth movement?????? I mean, lots of schools start young players. Right now Pitt is starting DuJuan Blair who is a true freshman and Gilbert Brown who is a redshirt freshman in his first year as a college basketball player. Anyone crying about their youth movement? When are we going to stop making excuses for PSU and DeChellis? Let's not use youth as an excuse for how they play.

Read the story of PSU's loss to Minnesota in today's paper. Did you know that the Gophers started 2 freshmen in yesterday's line-up? Blake Hoffarber was their leading scorer with 19 points and 4 three-pointers. Al Nolen was their freshman guard who made 3 free throws in the last few seconds to win the game. Is anyone saying anything about how young Minnesota is?

It was a little more difficult/expensive than getting tickets for a pitt football game

What about saturday's PSU game at the BJC? I believe the promotion was FOUR tickets for FORTY bucks, along with 4 wieners and 4 drinks. Too bad you had to pay for the buns. Heck, it costs 5 bucks to see an Altoona game.

According to rivals.com, this weekend of January 18 is a BIG recruiting weekend for PSU football, as PSU will host 4 of it's top remaining targets on visits. Please take notice, that the Penn State men's basketball team will be AWAY from the BJC this weekend while these recruits are visiting. A coincidence?????? Hey, at least the Creamery is open. There's probably lots of wieners left over from Saturday too.
