What Scout Said about Shaw.
Michael Shaw, a ultra-exciting running back, was previously committed to Penn State. Look for more from these two commitments. -- Greg Powers
10:45 am EST: Tough blow for Penn State losing Michael Shaw. The Nittany Lions needed running backs and they were counting on him coming into the fold. It will be interesting to see if Joe Paterno has a back-up plan. -- Bob Lichtenfels
He doesn't. And if I was Bloi-Dei Dorzan, and they called me and told me there was an offer available, I'd tell them to F themselves and that I was going to Temple. Temple has a better class this year than Penn State anyways.
If Southern Miss and Minnesota can find a guy who knows how to recruit, there's no reason Penn State can't.

Re: What Scout Said about Shaw.
It is tough to recruit when the kids know that Joepa will not be there in 4 years, and with all of the off field troubles last year. Add in all of the problems with the offensive coaching staff, and it has to be a hard sell to the top recruits.

Re: What Scout Said about Shaw.
That is what they said when King and Williams were recruited but he is still there. Look at programs around the nation CRSOCCER coaches change very often. There is a bigger chance of JoePa still being at Penn State in 4 years than there is Weis being at ND, Saban being at Alabama, and Rich-Rod being at Michigan. That is one thing Penn State can promise their recruits stability.

Re: What Scout Said about Shaw.
Stability is great when you are going 11-1 or 10-2 every year like an Ohio St., USC or LSU. When you are in the middle of your conference every year, stability isn't such a great thing. Maybe King and Williams (and let's not forget Morelli) have had stability in their coaching staff, but what has that done for their personal development? I imagine most PSU fans expected much more out those athletes than what they have produced. Since 2000 PSU has at least 4 losses every year except one. They have finished higher than 4th in the Big 10 only once in the same time span. Is this the stability the Nittany Lions are trying to sell?

Re: What Scout Said about Shaw.
I'm not saying the stability is good. What I am saying is that is one thing that is at Penn State. A player will not choose PSU because of the 3-4-5 loses a year but they will not go elsewhere b/c of the lack of stability there.

Dude, your coach is 94 & everyone knows his agenda has been to coach for 78 yrs....leaving no one to question his royal delegation of his idiot son as his successor! And that is stability??

They land Pryor, either Jay or Bradley is getting that job. Those kids ALL talk about a "family atmosphere" up there. Penn State won't give that up.
What can you say? I wish I made the decisions.

Re: What Scout Said about Shaw.
Where did these unstable schools mentioned end up in the recruiting rankings? According to Rivals, Alabama was #1, Notre Dame #2 and Michigan #10 (including landing Shaw). Apparently the lack of stability in coaching ranks isn't scaring the top recruits away from these programs.

None of those aforementioned programs has a WeekEnd @ Bernie's coach!

Once a runner,
You missed a huge one, too... Arkansas. For all the deserved criticism that Petrino has gotten, take a look at how good of a class he has coming in. He stole a kid off USC and a kid off Texas Tech on signing day. He did a great job of keeping the Arkansas kids in Arkansas, and believe it or not, there's a pretty decent amount of talent down there every year. AND he brought Ryan Mallett. Mallett could have gone to a number of places, and picked Bobby Petrino.
