Re: Something is wrong
nope..no mistake. The vast majority of americans were not influenced by the Karl Rove attacks and the mindless right wing covnservative nutjob propoganda that we were all subjected to over the last few weeks.
When the majority of american citizins, the popular vote, the electoral college vote, and world leaders from many nations and every walk of life were in favor of (and happily supported and congratulated) President-Elect Obama...you would think maybe, just maybe, you would be able to recognize that he was the right choice. And I know in my heart that he was the candidate who God wanted in office, otherwise He wouldnt have allowed it.
So as a Christian who values the principles on which I was raised, who loves the country that I am a proud citizen of, and who has served to protect our freedom...I can proudly say that I supported the right candidate from day 1.
P.S. On an amusing aside...did anyone notice that after John McCain gave his concession speech (which was heartfelt, noble, and earned him huge respect in my mind) it looked like Sara Palin kept inching closer to the podium as if she was going to grab the microphone and announce she was running for president in 2012...hilarious.
P.S.S also...in regards to mccain's speech...had he campaigned in that manner for last months and treated Obama as the respectable leader he is and as someone who has the country's best interest in his heart....and just campaigned on the platform that "Obama is a great candidate, a respectible man, and he would unit people and bring change about and be a good leader...and he'll still be a good leader in four years and he will have a little more experience and be a littl more ready. But I, however, am ready night now"..if he would have run on THAT platofrm and not the guilt by association, karl rove, fear mongering, personal and character attacks...if he would have run on THAT platform..*and also picked a MUCH better more qualified VP) i would have voted for John McCain, but last night i could not, In ANY good conscience, vote for McCain with his negative campaign and his horrible VP pick

Re: Something is wrong
I guarantee you, regardless of the glibness of ct, that Bedford County did NOT give Obama 76% of the vote. In fact, those numbers are opposite.
Here you can see that McCain took 72% of the Bedford County vote, Obama 27%.

Re: Something is wrong
You can also see in that map that 50 of the 67 counties in PA went for McCain.
It's not too late to just give Philly to New Jersey! No strings attached.

Re: Something is wrong
Wow ct you really are clueless. Bet you voted for Murtha again too didn't ya. He done alot for the township area in the last 30 years didn't he.
I wouldn't bring God into politics like you just did. Besides God did let the Jewish people become slaves and be conquered by the Babylonians and extripated from their country.
Keep watching MSNBC they preach the truth, ya that right wing conspiracy crap, Bush Lied, and Rove is evil garbage Olbermann and the rest of the cooks of the real Left Wing MSM conspiracy that got Obama elected. That's the truth!
But now the ball's in your court and you can't blame Bush anymore. Choke on it.
Obama Bashing will be fun the next four years. You pukes on the left took vilifying a president to a new level. You haven't seen anything yet.

Re: Something is wrong
Well..unfortunately for those of us who live out in a less pupulated area...the vote of the entire state is counted and those votes from the inner-city are just as valuable as the rural votes...thus Obama won PA regardless..in solid fashion as well.
And despite you being upset that Obama won in PA...even if McCain did come up with the upset...Obama still had the majority of pa's votes...
if you give Philadelphia county to new jersey or even delaware instead of Pa:
Obama: 2,613,143
McCain: 2,471,369
Heck..even give Allegheny county to Ohio:
Obama: 2,244,690
McCain: 2,201,550
So, even getting rid of the two most populated and most liberal counties in the state...obama still wins by over 40,000 votes
The fact is...in states where real and current social issues matter most...Ohio, Michigan, Virginia, Indiana, Florida, North Carolina....aka the "swing states"..Obama won becuase they trust him and think he is the better, more qualified candidate
You may call me glib or whatever you want...but i have done my research and studied both candidates. I knew my choice was the right one and I stand firmly behind him, so naturally yes..i will have a quick response that defends the President-Elect...but i know what I am talking about
And as far as southpaw goes: I dont watch MSNBC i watch CSPAN and CNN becuase they are the most neutral
And as far as bringing God into politics...i was responding to the quote by countless christian leaders and religious zealots that "i know the right candidate will win"..and he did

Re: Something is wrong
oh...and for murtha...you may not know what goes on in johnstown because you live over in bedford and elsewhere..but for those of us in Murtha's district...who actually live in or near the city...we know the value of a congressman who has represented us well in DC and has not let us down..has been an advocate for the military and for healthcare and has brought us numerous jobs and has bettered our economy and lowered our unemployment rates since the crash of the steel industry...those of us who know and experience life in Johnstown....we know how vital mr. murtha is to our area and just about everyone in Johnstown voted for him

Advocate of the military?
Did you miss the part where he called a bunch of marines coldblooded murderers?

Re: Something is wrong
Southpaw, the vote total you saw was a typo. It should have read 15,928... not 1,592. No need to move to Kentucky when Pennsyltucky is still going strong!
As far as not being able to blame Bush any longer..... I think we'll still have plenty of opportunities to blame him for problems even though he is no longer in office. After all, Clinton is still being blamed for various problems. I even read one message board where he was being blamed for the housing crisis.

Re: Something is wrong
CNN neutraL? Ya I would want Wolf Blitzer to ref football games. Wait I think he is one of the homer refs at Portage!
As I said in a previous post Murtha has watched the population of J-town fall from 43,000 to 20,000 and still falling. Great record to keep reelecting him! J-town is the least like city in the US that anyone would move to. What a legacy! Are those defense jobs permanent? Just pork and pay for votes for corrupt ole Jack? Health care? Who is going to be around to need it in 20 years. Look around in J-town part of it are a ghost town and other neighborhoods are very elderly.
Want to see what Obamaland looks like? Go to Murtha 12th Congressional district. Greene, Fayette, Cambria Counties. That's where were headed they are already on the Nanny system! Somerset is close but I'm not ready to write them off yet.
Why did the steel industry crash? Answer that one? Can't blame Bush for that.
