A Great Experience
On this past Tuesday night I attended my first wrestling match in some twenty years. The match was Forest Hills at Somerset.I have no routing interest in either team other than a friend of mine is an assistant coach for one of the teams.
I have to say as a sports nut it was great. The intensity from the participating wrestlers as well as the fans was amazing.I sat on the Forest Hills side of the gym.I have never seen such support for a high school program in my life. The fans were chanting out wrestling moves before the coaches were. They copy down the team rosters and keep score in the stands!!The Forest Hills fans new the names of every Somerset wrestler, his record, etc. and im sure the same goes for the Somerset fans as well.
Last note, the weather Tuesday night was terrible, but yet both sides of the gym were packed. With this kind of support,it is easy to see why these programs are successful.
Very enjoyable!!

You thought Forest Hills and Somerset was exciting.....go to Westmont on January 6th when they wrestle Foresthills or December 23 when Chestnut Ridge wrestles Bedford.

What's truely amazing is, is that there was talk about dropping wrestling at FH back in the early '90's. Now look at it. Big attendance at the home matches, a nice following when FH is on the road. Quite a turn around, not to mention how they have done as a team in District VI, LHAC, etc etc.

Trust me I am not a die-hard wrestling fan,but do enjoy good high school sports .That on Tuesday night was GREAT high school sports.
Forest Hills has had a great turn around. That starts with great community support and they have it!

I have been to FH football games many times and have played and coached against them on many levels.I was simply stating that it was nice to see such fan support on the high school level.
