District 6 Boys & Girls Standings

Post by Sleepy Floyd »

We are only a few weeks away from the beginning of District 6 Playoffs, does anyone have any more accurate information regarding current standings in A, AA, and AAA? The District 6 website only has the whole numbers so it is difficult to tell who may be leading by fractions of a point.

Teams are now positioning themselves for the race, it would be fun to keep track. Maybe someone on here with the knowledge of how the scoring works could start keeping daily updates.

It's pretty simple. You get 4 points for any win. Then you get 4 extra for beating a Quad A 3 for beating AAA, 2 for AA, and 1 for beating an A. You get 2 extra points for beating a team that has a .700 winning percentage or better. The rankings seem pretty accurate.

They may be accurate whole numbers but these positions will be decided by fractions of a point.

Take time and do the math yourself if you want to know so badly.

You can find all the standings at http://www.piaad6.org However the order of the teams isn't right because they are listed by who has the most points but if you want to know the order and find the averages just divide the number of points by the number of games played.

With IV's big win over Tyrone last night, they flip flop 4 and 5 with J-town.

The most accurate standings are right here. Keep in mind that these include projected bonus points and actually carries out the average points a couple of spaces after the decimal.

After games played through Friday, January 23rd.

1. Central-Martinsburg (18) 5.8
2. Tyrone (17) 5.6
3. Johnstown (13) 5.07
4. Somerset (16) 5.0
5. Indian Valley (15) 4.7

The two top dogs in District 6A were knocked off last night but it did not change the standings. Bishop Carroll should finish as the top seed with Homer Center finishing second. Not sure how everything else will end up. Rumor has it that these 13 teams will enter. Guilfoyle has a losing record but tough schedule and an open format, they could easily get to the finals. Penns Manor who is 7-10 has a young squad and this could give them a chance to gain post season experience. I wonder what BG would do if you had to qualify for playoffs with a winning record? Might make a good discussion.
