I agree with Portage, but Windber "not so fast my friend." There are a couple more teams that matchup well together. Other than Portage I don't see a clear cut 2nd favorite in the WestPac.

Predictions (Changes since last week)

Windber 27 Ridge 14 (Will be a close game the 1st half, but Windber will pull away in the end)
Berlin 28 North Star 14 (Staying conservative with this game even though has potential to be a shootout between 2 good rb's)
Meyersdale 42 Ferndale 13 (Stat day for the raiders)
Conemaugh Valley 14 Shade 13 (Close game, I think Shade could win though with their new coach)
Blacklick Valley 27 Township 14 (Hearing the way Blacklick has been playing in their scrimmages I can't go against them this week)
Portage 63 Rockwood 0 (Need more than a miracle in this game)

Windber over CRWindber 27 Ridge 14 (Will be a close game the 1st half, but Windber will pull away in the end)
NS over Berlin 14 - Everybody must hate NS (I know you aren't favoring BB on purpose) the RB shootout may be cut short with Saylor nearing brain damage and don't count out Strasiser...very underrated
Meyersdale 28 Ferndale 7 - Poor Jackets can't score till the 4th...how can you not feel bad for this team
Conemaugh Valley 19 Shade 21 - Shade holds the (Navy) discipline advantage in schools going in the opposite directions
Township 34 Blacklick 20 - Am I missing something here?
Portage 1,312 Rockwood (6?) - Gary Gouse will just because he can just because that is the type of person he is. I am glad he is not my father.

Aside from the normal BM disputing it looks like a normal WestPac year. Typical Portage with power, Windber with confidence and tradition, and one or two of the remaining small schools filling in the gap at the end of the season. I say count on CR to disrupt the som/cam co stuff. Also count on one of the small schools (I'm going with Berlin or Shade).

Pale Face Rider, stay out of the WestPac topic. Listen to your Dist 6 counterparts. Your conference is better for a reason. Besides, would any of your precious LHAC teams (no offense to anybody else, I love the LHAC) have done any better than recent d5A champs against the WPIAL champs? Get a life you freak.

Soccer chick, you need to realize that your school hasn't had a QB that good for almost 10 years. Sounds like you have a personal problem with these recent alumni from your school. That kid would have had defensive player of the game at the Lantzy game if they gave one out and I don't remember him ever being mentioned at the meetings as a selection.
It's better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

Hey genius, I know Berlin hasn't had a good qb in years. I never said we did. How do I have a personal problem with Brett. I am stating a fact he wasn't a good qb. I'm not bashing him, I'm strickly stating facts. I never said anything was wrong with his defensive game. If I did show me. Just because your related to him doesn't mean you have to flip the script. As for Sayler, hes fine actually. He just can't get another big concussion that's all. He's looking better than he was last year before he got hurt.

Season Prediction:

1. Portage- Return most from last year, should be easy to repeat.
2. C. Township- Leading rusher Zaman (1200/19TD) is back and Bivens is a better QB than Duray
3. Blacklick- Tough team, tough losses last year. Return some good guys. 1st game will be good Indicator. Return best defensive players (sans Jones) from last year, especially Byers (who led the state in Interceptions)
4. Windber- Lost biggest contributor and some good O lineman
5. Berlin- I'll probably regret this, but they look like a solid team.
6. Meyersdale- Lost biggest contributor to graduation, but other than that they look like a team on the rise.
7. North Star- Lost of their big players, enough said.
8. C. Valley- They were awful last year, should be no better this year.
9. Ferndale- I've seen their team this year and am not impressed one bit.
10. Rockwood- Teams with just 1 or 2 wins last year can thank Rockwood for providing the same service this year.
11. Shade- Were awful last year, and (if the CT team picture is correct) they lost their head coach, too. This team is the Detroit Lions of the WestPac..and I mean last year's Detroit Lions.

This Week:

Ridge 17 Windber 14 (Should be a close one at first, but Ridge is a grittier team with home-field advantage)

Berlin 21 North Star 14 (As said above, could be a shootout, but it's the first game and offense is usually sloppy)

Meyersdale 42 Ferndale 6 (Ferndale will score early, get excited, then sputter to a big loss)

Conemaugh Valley 10 Shade 0 (Prediction a shutout is a dangerous game, but CV could pull it off)

Conemaugh Twp 23 Blacklick 20 (OT) (Blacklick is impressive, but CT returns a fully healthy Zaman and a fierce, experienced defense)

Portage 42 Rockwood 7 (The Rockets get a score in garbage time, but Portage rolls. Score would be higher if not first game)

yeahh, thanks for the positive criticism. Simply stating that Berlin had a bad year would've been sufficient, but if saying I couldn't throw a ball to save my life makes you sleep better at night makes you happy then that's wonderful. We do however know a lot more about the subject than you. I went to all the games and there's a lot more to it than stats. Not only was I injured all season, but so was half of our young inexperienced team. My job as a senior was not to be a world beater and I knew that. It was to prepare these boys for this year and I think we sent them in the right direction....

Yeah it really makes me feel better okay? I can tell this really bothers you because you just joined bleachercoaches. I'm sorry to offend you by stating the truth. You act like I said you are the worst qb berlin has ever had. Did I? No. I said you weren't a very good qb. You should of been a running back instead, but no one with experience could back you up. You were a phenominal defensive player no questions asked. Nothing personal was towards you, I was just talking about the seniors from last season and how it would impact this years squad. Once again, sorry.

yeahh, the whole thing about me not being able to throw a pass to save my life was just a bit much. i don't care if you say i wasn't a good qb i know i could've done better, but that was just brutal considering what i had to work with. it's fine i accept, but i hate when people criticize something that they didn't see all of. you know?

no, you know what i was a good qb. maybe not as statistically strong, but those boys last year would've followed me into any ring of fire. they looked up to me and i think that's more important than any number of touchdowns. at the end of the year i gave them this mindset you see in them now. they're a different group now. boys to men. i was a mentor for what they needed to be this year and i can't wait to see what they can do...sorry i'm done
