Coach Page Recognition

Post by tubmill »

Coach Gerald Page will be recognized for his contribution to Laurel Valley High School and high school football in general on Saturday afternoon during the game between LV and United Joint. It would be nice to see people from all schools in the area in attendance to honor Coach Page, his wife Bonnie and their entire family.

I second that, Tubmill!! Coach Page is a decent, humble man who is a class act in every way. It is hard to imagine a better coach or teacher. It is people like him who have helped forge the Laurel Valley culture of Ram Pride.

I know some fear that will be lost in the event of a consolidation, but I think with mutual respect and cooperation, we can be greater than the sum of our parts if we do finally get together.

But on another note: United "Joint"!!!! I am afraid you have shown your 'seniority' there, Tubmill! In fact, you probably went to Tubmill, I bet! (I support saving it and moving it to LVE.)

You got me Red and Black! A senior I am. I graduated from Laurel Valley though and was in the third class from the merger with Ligonier. I feel special that I was on the commitee that was composed of twenty students from Ligonier and twenty from Laurel Valley that chose our red and black colors that we have today. I hope that never changes.

Coach Page was on of the coaches on the staff when I played in the Lantzy Game 20 years ago (Has it been that long?).

He was the consummate professional and a class act. He is well deserving of all of our respect and admiration.

The ceremony for Coach Page and his family was wonderful and classy. He received a certificate from the State Assembly, the PSFCA and also a football signed by all of this years Ram players. There was a nice croud and the Rams defeated United in overtime. :D Melissa Miller, the President of the Laurel Valley Football Parents Association deserves alot of credit for organizing this event.

It was nice, but it would have been better if the team was out there when it was happening. also, there is no reason that field should not have been named after him, and yesterday was the prime time to do it. then you have an overtime opening day win to follow, that would have been icing on the cake for the whole thing.

Costanza,
I tried three years ago and my request fell on deaf ears. Greg Ludwig tried two months ago with the same results. I believe the only way it will ever happen is with a petition drive. I certainly would be willing to help.
