The Big 2
Re: The Big 2
There was over 55,000 at Heinz Field tonight. Pretty good considering that the Pirates had a 3 game homestand over the weekend, all the high school football that was played in the Wpial on Friday and Saturday, the new casino just opened, etc etc. What was going on at State College? Except for Beaver Stadium, what else was there to do? Did State College High School have a home game this weekend. You could always head over to Boalsburg and see the statue of the women who started Decoration Day. In fact kids are so bored that they end up shooting arrows into apartment walls and making harassing phone calls just for something to do. OOPS. That's the PSU players. Sorry. By the way, forgot about the Penguins pre-season game Friday night at a packed Mellon Arena.

Don't forget Kennywood and the Zoo! I also heard that IKEA was having a 50% off sale.
How many people who wanted to see Navy, for some particular reason, whether it was to see Navy, or because they have served, have a kid who serves, or who know someone who serves showed up? I would bet the number of Navy fans or supporters was pretty close to the number of Pitt "fans". There were several posters on here who went just to see Navy and not necessarily Pitt.

Re: The Big 2
Any of the service academies are going to draw a large turnout, whether home or away, because of their dedicated and loyal following, whether in passing or alumni. But hey, maybe Navy fans will get a free Thanksgiving turkey or tank of gas from Giant Eagle for purchasing a PItt football ticket.

Re: The Big 2
I'll admit that people would go to Annapolis to see Navy play, given the pagentry that goes on before, during and after the game, win or lose. But WHERE was all that pagentry yesterday. All that I saw was a football game between two teams. There was NO grand entry by the Midshipmen into the stadium. There was NO pre-game or halftime performance by their band, even though the band was there. So what would attract non-Navy fans to see them?

Re: The Big 2
You argument holds no water, moldo. Pittsburgh better have more activities going on then State College considering they have have a much bigger population than State College. That has little affect on game attendance.
