Re: LV's last game?
I have seen the map before. Clearfield County is list w/ D6 and Indiana County w/ D6 but Clearfield and Indiana don't play in D6. Johnstown played in the WPIAL but now are back in D6. The WPIAL logically let them petition to get out and go into D6.
My point is that I don't forsee D6 allowing its member schools the same consideration. Somerset especially if they want out should be allowed to do so. Then a school like Claysburg should be considered if they would want to. Portage? They play in a conference w/ mostly D5 schools. That could be their arugment I guess. Lewistown and IV are the only two mifflin county schools as far as I know so the whole county could go to D4 if allowed to do so.
My point to this discussion is that there are exceptions to the rule about school/counties/piaa districts.

There are exceptions. That is obvious.
I just don't see any justification for them.
If Somerset wants to declare themselves the 5AAA football champ each year so be it.

Its hard to justify any exception but you have to look at each one individually based on its merits.knowitall wrote:There are exceptions. That is obvious.

along with clearfield (AAA), curwensville (class A), and dubois (AAAA), also play in D9 even though they are physically located in clearfield county which is District 6.
a district 9 border team that could probably make a case to be in district 6 if they wanted to would be punxsutawney. the school is in jefferson county, however banks township, north mahoning township, and part of canoe township, which is indiana county help to make up the school district. In football they are a AAA school playing Class A and AA district 9 schools.
district 6 could use a few more triple A football schools if they loose hollidaysburg to the wpial. Clearfield and Punxsutawney could be added. Clearfield actually plays some district 6 schools like central and tyrone in football.

sportsfan79,
The new LV school could definitely compete in the LHAC. By the way LV lost 30 - 6 to BM which was comparable to the other schools in the LHAC and the Rams had three losses to Heritage schools.

Could it be possible for LV to join D5. If they were to join the WPIAL or LHAC their travel times would be insane. I think most of the D5 schools aren't that far away.
Re: LV's last game?
I think the plan is for them to stay in the Heritage, which will have to pick up a school. Also the Blairsville/Saltsburg district is looking to have one football team for 2011 which would mean the Heritage would have to pick up another team. Blacklick Valley and Cambria Heights would be the logical choices.

Re: LV's last game?
Blacklick would fit better in the Heritage than they do the WestPAC. They are a long way from the schools in southern Somerset County. If Blacklick were to leave the WestPAC then perhaps Ridge could take their spot. They are only a little bigger than Windber and North Star, and they would ultimately make the conference better.
Re: LV's last game?
In regards to District 9 teams joining District 6, I've read that Juniata High School in Mifflintown from District 3 is moving to D6 and the MAC next season. Now, whether that is true or not, I can't say for sure. Somebody closer to the MAC might know more than I do.

Old news, looks like Juniata will be in the MAC next year.
