Us folks in United... :D

Many people get the T-D here, more than get the Indiana Gazette...

The 10-mile question was to point out that United, as well as Laurel Valley and Ligonier Valley ARE covered on a weekly basis by the Johnstown paper.

Perhaps the writer who covered FH should have made a bigger deal of the 300th win (it wasn't like the Tribune blew off coverage of the game)... But, why mock United's win over BG? The Tribune is sold in both areas...

Gee, FH/Somerset wasn't even the WJAC-TV gave of the week...

They didn't slight it, huh? How many articles were in the Tribune Democrat this week about Bailey going for 300?

You are right though, if this was ole Kenny Salem Tribune Democrat would have a picture of him plastered on the front pages and also two or three more pictures of the game and a full laid out 2 page article devoted to them. What did FH get a picture of him spanning half the page and a crappy little article about the game.

Over the years I have grown to actually looking at the journalist writing the article. If I see Mastovich or a very few select others then I will take my time to read it. But if I see the lady journalist (name is slipping my memory right now) I will not read the article at all. I think she cares more about her pickems everyweek other then what a paper should be concerned about which is the journalism. She is absolutely the worst writer they have down there.

Coach Bailey knows what he accomplished; He was first to mention being blessed by GOD for the opportunity he's had coaching at FH all these years, and followed that with the comment that it's not about the coaches or how great they are, it's about the athletes and the work and dedication over the years that they themselves put into it that have made FH the great semi-rural school it is. ( I paraphrased a couple of the last comments.) Don Bailey is to local high school football what JoePa is to major college football. Some of you may not like him, but his record speaks for itself. Both gentlemen. May they both "live long and prosper".
It ain't over until it's over.

Coach Bailey definitely deserved his kudos! However, don't think that United's victory wasn't important. United High School is closer to the Tribune Democrat headquarters than Forest Hills. In fact one of the paper's featured witers graduated from United and lives in Laurel Valley. People don't realize that the Greater Johnstown School District borders along the United School District and the Ligonier Valley School District (Laurel Valley attendance area). Forest Hills is a ways away!

Another young lad trying to act like a tough guy over the internet without knowing his stats or anything about football.

Listen here young lad and answer me a question. How exactly is FH inferior to BM when FH has beaten BM more times then BM has beaten FH. Get back to me with the answer and meanwhile stop being a little fool.

If we are talking to the actual school, yes United is closer. But parts of FH school district are about 5 or 6 miles away from Johnstown. Remember FH is the biggest school district in area around. FH is also a LHAC school, most people in the Johnstown area have never even heard of half the teams United plays...

Congrat's to Bailey. He is far and away the best coach in the area and no one around can really touch what he did in a very competitive AA football scene for many years. 300 wins, most coming in a very tough LHAC conference.. this is unheard of. The TD is horrible for the coverage of this, but from what I know of Coach Bailey he doesn't give a rat's a$$ about the coverage of this.. he was probably at home watching film of Central Cambria!!

Over the years Bailey has coached some great players
Kudlawiec, Trout(s), Beyer, Baumgardner, Bailey(s), Myers, Mays, Petrunak(s), Gallahar, Rearick(s), Mehall(s), ALOT of great talent has come from this area directly because of Bailey. From Dunlo to South Fork; New Germany to Elton; Beaverdale to Summerhill; and Salix, Sidman, and St. Michael.. Thanks for all the great memories Coach Bailey!
