Are we getting a little brother?
Re: Are we getting a little brother?
This year, the Big Ten Conference had only 5 football teams with regular season winning records. Instead of worrying about the Big East, maybe fans of the Big Ten should worry about taking care of things in their own conference.

Re: Are we getting a little brother?
Other than the academic credibility part, finally a post that doesn't make me want to puke. Adding Navy makes some sense, though I prefer that they continue to schedule a couple of good non-conference games each year, rather than add two conference games that don't generate any interest. I'd much rather watch Pitt play ND, Miami, Iowa, etc. than ECU. I'd be afraid that they would forgo the good match-ups for the extra conference games.

Raiding the Big East (ala the ACC) is probably what would occur but don't completely rule out Nebraska or Iowa State in addition to Mizzou from the Big 12.
My personal opinion, and this might be a bit off the wall but follow my rationale, is to go from 11 to 14. I think this creates a better situation to attract Notre Dame. Reason....Play 6 intradivisional games 1"locked in" crossover game and then exempt ND from having to play any other crossovers so they can maintain their traditional USC, Navy and other intersectional games they need.
Favorite right now has to be Rutgers (just because ND won't bite) but going to 14 could entice the Fightin' Irish and throw in either Pitt or Missouri and you have the new Big 14.
Just when the Big East seems to have bounced back, it appears they are going to lose at least one member again....a never ending battle thanks to former (I think...he should have been fired) commish Mike Tranghese.

Come on Roadie...we all know that every single solitary problem the Big East has, has ever had, or will ever have, is 100% the fault of Joe Paterno.Head Roadie wrote:Just when the Big East seems to have bounced back, it appears they are going to lose at least one member again....a never ending battle thanks to former (I think...he should have been fired) commish Mike Tranghese.

That's why adding a team who exposes the Big Ten and the B10 Network to new markets is the best plan. This year, the Big Ten Conference had only 5 football teams with regular season winning records. Rutgers.
This is why I am saying the Big East should look into schools in the South like SMU (lots of wealthy alums, major metropolitan area) and Southern Mississippi and UCF and even Troy. Those schools have good academics and are launching pads. Memphis is NOT.

Another thing on Rutgers...
In football ND was pulling a lot of 4 and 5 star players from New Jersey. But that was because of the people on Weis' staff. Kelly is more of a midwest guy who focuses a lot on Ohio. He has no NJ connection. CONCEIVABLY... Penn State and Rutgers should benefit from this.
