Question

Post by Portage Alum »

Just a question for you wrestling people...How many dual meets can a varsity wrestling team have in a season? Two years ago, varsity basketball teams lost 2 games, from 24 down to 22. I had heard that all winter sports were affected when the PIAA did this.

I was just wondering because the "Team Duals" seem to becoming more popular and a team could wrestle 6 or more dual meets in one day/weekend. What is the limit on dual meets in a season?

Thanks,

~PA

its based on a point system. 22 points a year i believe. a dual meet is worth 1 point.tournaments vary on how manypoints bc of how many days it last.you can have say awest pac conference meetand it doesn't count for any.dual meet tournaments that last 1 day cost 2points. richland duals for example which last 2 days i believe cost 3 points .piaa rules allow a wrestler 5 matches in 1 day but ihave seen some kids wresle more

I haven't been directly involved in a couple years; so it may have changed in the last 2 years , but tourneys are based on the amount of teams. 8 or less= 3pts, 8-16 =4pts, and over 16 =5 pts, because it affects the number of matches a kid can wrestle in a tournament.
