Re: Northern Bedford/Tussey Mountain Merger?
Obviously athletics was only discussed given the nature of Bleacher Coaches. No one is suggesting that NB and TM combine for athletic success. Regardless of the size of Forbes Road, and relative ease of assimilation of those students, the overall outcome wouldn't be nearly as successful as a NB/TM merger, which would offer infinitely more academic and athletic opportunities for the students.
Also, I have heard that the Bedford Gazette, and Altoona Mirror will be investigating the potential merger and reporting in the next few days. Hopefully this media attention will give more credibility to the rumor, and allow people to understand the advantages of one AA district with combined resources.
Looks like the end of the heated NB/TM football games is coming soon...Go Northern Tussey Titan-Panthers.

Dragon. Regardless of your "sources" no way does this ever happen with NB-Tussey. But, it is a good story though.

Head Roadie is about as in as anyone can be from NBC. If he knows nothing about it, there's absolutely nothing to it. I wouldn't trust your source for very much other information.

Re: Northern Bedford/Tussey Mountain Merger?
First, it would probably not be the powerhouse in sports the op thinks at least at first anyway. History of other mergers tends to show that when teams combine athletic success doesn't translate as people would have thought.
Second, I am far removed from the situation but it sounds like a district merger would be possible but a high school merger highly unlikely. PA's plan is to start to look into merging districts but keeping schools. The benefit being less administration. Having said that, though, once high schools are merged as one district, consolidation is always possible down the road at any time. Ligonier/Laurel being one district and Blairsville-Saltsburg being one distric is one of the main reasons those schools are consolidating or starting to anyway.

True or not, your post is full of highly intelligent dialogue. However, just as I give you a compliment, I must also slap you across the face for this one...
While I do not doubt Coach Bailey's Basketball knowledge, I do question his employment status. TM is blinded by the wins (which are good), but they fail to see the harm he causes and the embarassment he brings to your school district. I'm an outsider who has never played against TM ever, so I have no issues with the school and no reason to slam the guy other than what I've witnessed first-hand. I'm sure everyone from TM will disagree because they are from there, but the guy is not setting an appropriate example. The fans feed off of his behavior and then become problematic in the stands because he sets the poor example. This is a poor reflection on the team, school, and the administration. Certainly, no one else should be blamed for his behavior, however if his employers allow it to happen, they must be held accountable. I'm not saying the guy should be replaced, because I know the fans an kids love him. I'm simply stating he makes the district look bad with his behavior. His name is one of the first things mentioned when someone says "Tussey Mountain." Is that who you want people to think of when they talk about your school?
Sorry for the sidebar - just wanted to give my two cents on the TM coaching situation as an outsider.

Is it him who advances, or TM?Dave Bailey adding a three or four starter quality players to his basketball squad would finally allow him to advance outside of D5 an compete in the state playoffs.
