LHAC Week 4.

Post by Crimson09Crazy »

Went 4-2 last week.(15-3) CC lost a tough one by 1, and Heights came up short by 2. Richland and McCort got off the hot seat and the Rangers kept rolling.

Week 4 has some good match ups. Let the Talk begin.

Bedford (1-2) at Bishop McCort (1-2)
Well Bedford got spanked last week by Richland. They put up 6. Shippey is a good ball player, but doesn't have a lot around him. He needs to be effective in both assets on the ground and in the air for them to have a chance. The Defense's best performance has been allowing 37 points. Thats not going to cut in this league. McCort, conversely, has been getting better. The Offense has found that they have a number of weapons that can make some plays. LaRue has been the star of this team so far, while Zach Varga has been providing this team with a stable ball carrier. Cooper has been playing well so far giving this team a balanced attack. I think the Crushers have righted the ship. They should start to roll, just my call. McCort should be able to score Friday.
Crimson Crushers 38 Bisons 12

Central Cambria (2-1) at Cambria Heights (0-3)
The Highlanders have been so close to ending the embarrassment. Anyone can argue that Vescovi is the best player in the league. He has the numbers, just not a great supporting cast. Brawley has been an excellent target for him to go, but there hasn't been much else. Wish that Vescovi could pick up a win. He deserves it with his effort this season. That likely won't happen. Central Cambria is an extra point away from being undefeated. Wissinger has been a force on the ground so far. And Buzzard has been playing very well this year. The Red Devils played well enough to win last week. They came up short, but they should take care of business this week.
Red Devils 34 Highlanders 14

Bishop Guilfoyle (2-1) at Forest Hills (3-0)
Well this just isn't happening for the Marauders. They proved that they are a step above the Somersets and Cambria Heights of the world, but they are nowehere near the Rangers' level. Barr had a big game last week and will need to duplicate it this week for them to have any chance. Forest Hills is still looking for that first challenge, and will have to continue to look. The Rangers size, speed, and playmaking ability makes this an easy pick. Dudukovich is having another memorable season, and Meirer and Unger provide great support. Gdula has exceeded any expectations from the QB spot. And once again the Ranger Defense is great. The last time an LHAC opponent scored double digits on this team was Penn Cambria in October of 2008. BG won't break that streak.
Rangers 42 Marauders 6

Somerset (0-3) at Westmont (0-3)
Well a battle of the winless. Somerset has been in 2 games and has shown some promise. Ickes and Schrock
are a great 1-2 punch for the Golden Eagles. They give the Eagles a stable rushing attack, and are able to move the ball. Westmont on the other hand hasn't really been in any games. They are averaging only 8 points. The offense is stagnant and the defense has been chasing opponents all season long. They do still have that big line, and some quick little backs. They might be able to get things moving a little bit this week, but they showed me very little in last week's contest against Johnstown. I'm going Somerset, they've played better so far and seem to have things in place better.
Golden Eagles 30 Hilltoppers 12

Bishop Carroll (2-1) at Penn Cambria (3-0)
Well BC had a wake up call last week. The Rangers really took it to them, and they aren't getting a break this week. Woo has been the Huskiers workhorse thus far, averaging over 100 and 1 score a game. He is quick and the Huskies are going to try to get him the ball in space. Barzdo has played well in terms of running but hasn't given this team any sort of passing attack. It's no secret what the Huskies will try to do in this one. Penn Cambria hasn't exactly done much of anything through the air. This team is also going to ru the ball with a Running Back and QB. Buck and Fuller have been very productive so far. And this team has to be the cardiac kids of the LHAC. 3 wins by a total of 5 points. They like the close game, and they've walked out with an unblemished record. The D hasn't given up more then 16 in a game. Fetzer has them playing well and they are in the thick of the D6 AA race. I think PC is going to continue their run. They can enforce their will and get the ground attack moving. But of course, the game will be close.

GAME OF THE WEEK
Johnstown (3-0) at Richland (1-2)

Well this should be the toughest test for Johnstown so far. Richland decided last week that they aren't going to be throwing team they have been for the past 6 years. They threw for only 10 times, that has to be a low under the Bailey regime. What they did do was get Rizzo the ball, and move Cinko to QB and let him run the ball. The results were great. They hung 50 on Bedford. I'm sure Richland is keeping that game plan. Johnstown might be ready for that kind of battle. I'm looking for Linebacker Alkwan Williams and Running Back John Rizzo to have some collisions. Johnstown's Starters on D really haven't given up much of anything. Gervon Simon is for real, tossing 624 yards and 6 scores while rushing for 124 and 4 more scores. He is executing the offense real well. Anderson,Andrews,Williams, and Watson have all made plays and will spread the field. Johnstown has a high flying offense that will score quickly, and Richland is going to control the clock and try to run the ball. It's contrasting styles, its all about who can set their tone early. I'm a believer in Johnstown and I'm picking them, but Richland should be able to hang around

Can Cambria Heights do it this week? They are getting closer and closer each week. After two huge games in a row for CC, will they have a letdown? :?: :?: :?: Anyone think there is a shot and the matchup is sort of right for them? I don't think they can stop CC's run though. Hmmmm

The Richland and Johnstown game should be interesting with some possible future div.1 players on the field.

How will or does Johnstown stack up in AAA this year for States...granted they win D6 which is never a given.

Well Johnstown is benefiting from a relatively weak LHAC this year. But Simon is a good athlete at QB. Williams is a solid prospect at Linebacker. Johnstown has big linemen, but they never seem to be overly impressive. They don't have a go to back either. Good QB. Good Wide Receivers. Couple big boys, and Williams is the real deal. Weak Line, not great coaching would be the weaknesses.

Not sure where they are sending District 6 in States. Can anyone give me a State Bracket for the 2010 season?

But this team wouldn't fair very well against Out of District AAA teams. They would probably finish 3-4 in District 6 AA this year. Maybe they'll prove me wrong, but realistically seeing teams like TJ,West A,Hopewell, and Montour.......Things would get ugly for the Trojans

I agree, and I think the Trojans better be on upset alert for this one. But at the sametime Richland cant afford to be looking ahead to the big rivalry game on the horizon, or it'll get real ugly in favor of Johnstown.

I dont really see Richland being able to hang with Jtown, They put up 50 on a Bedford defense which has proven to be VERY bad, Jtowns D will be a much bigger task and Simon will be able to spread the ball around on Richland pretty easily IMO

prediction: Jtown 35 Richland 7

This is very confusing. It started out that D6 and D9 would be combined to form a AAA subregion with top four teams making the playoffs. I believe this is the way it should be with only three teams in D6 and four in D9.

I recently found out that each district wanted to crown their own district champion. That would be ok if only the top two teams made each district championship respectively then each champion played each other in the first round of states.

However, if you check district 6's website is says all three AAA teams will make the playoffs. I'm not sure how this can be done because there are only so many weeks. Initially with the subregion (4 teams making out of both districts) it would take two weeks to crown a champion and that winner plays district 4 champion. If all three teams make it in district 6 AAA it would take 2 weeks to crown a champion and an additional week to play d9's champion. There is not an extra week available in the schedule unless d6 AAA decides to only play 9 regular season games. Im not sure how all three teams can make it without cutting out the final week. If that were to happen I'm sure many people would be a tad disappointed of no FH-JHS matchup.
