Bullying Seminars

Post by psycho »

I saw in the paper that Westmont Hilltop High School will host a bullying seminar September 27th. The public is invited to hear some guy who wrote some chicken soup book talk about bullying. Chicken soup, sandwiches and I believe quiche, will be served in the cafeteria, along with cake.

I just heard that Windber is hosting a similar seminar next Friday as well just before their game.

Sounds like something say oww should attend as he so deeply harmed my inner most feelings by his harsh words a couple weeks ago.

Why do schools use sporting events for this kind of stuff? I mean, I understand there will be a huge crowd of people to hear your info, but why group stuff like this with sports? People don't attend football games to be enlightened about bullying initiatives within the school. Actually, most people go to football games wanting to see some bullying of the opponent! I know we wouldn't have sports without first having the school, but seriously... a bullying seminar at a football game? Cmon people. Do this kind of stuff during the school day from 8am-3pm. I don't condone bullying, but the last thing I want to be is lectured or educated about school initiatives when I sit down to eat my overpriced hotdog and watered down soda. Football games are not the place to talk about what's going on in the school. Football games are for watching football! Parents who care about being educated can check the school website or visit the school. If anything, the school is making the program look worse by trying to force it on spectators at a football game.

Schools have already made an anti-bullying statement on the football field. It's the "group" handshake at mid-field before the game. It goes something like this. Everyone says good luck while shaking hands, and then on the way back to the sidelines know they want to kick their ****.

So schools aren't allowed to announce upcoming events at games? Skip over homecoming, other fall sports, fundraising meetings and everything else then.

Grow up meatheads...
