It's a joke man. People on here get way too personal and that's why arguments start.
Re: Somerset O-line
Outside of Forest Hills, they all suck. Bedford will beat Somerset this week. And Bedford is terrible.

Is the head coach a teacher in the district? What type of offense are they running? Someone mentioned didn't have the athletes to run the type of offense thay are currently running.
Re: Somerset O-line
It took me a while to jump in on this one. But this thread sounds just like the Richland section, and I had to finish that one first. The question should be how many years did Somerset make the playoffs in the last ten years before Costea took over??? Umm, let me check - one, and it was a quick one and done to CC back in like 1999. Wait, they had a good group of kids in 1990, but thats going back to when the boosters were actually playing ball.
Sorry guys, its not Costea. If the kids were that good, they wouldn't need coached. Again, its just like Richland, a really fancy field and now everyone wants to play on the turf. Until they don't get their own way, or until the team loses game after game and then its all Costea's fault. You can complain about offensive schemes all you want, but most likely if you have the athletes then it doesn't matter what scheme the team runs. And in most cases, its not the offense, its the defense. Last time I checked, there is only one way to tackle and Somerset doesn't do a good job of that. But to the moms and dads in the stands that have all of the answers that is never going to fly.
If anything, coaches like Costea and Bailey should have a little more discipline and weed out the bad apples so that they can focus on playing as a team. Then maybe they will win some games as a team.

Re: Somerset O-line
I witnessed the Penn Cambria-Cambria Heights contest last Friday night. I swear to God, judging by the size of the players and speed of the game, I thought I was watching the Pitts CC/North Allegheny freshman game. PC is 5-1 in the LHAC and supposedly one of the top teams...if that's the case, I am certain that a host of JV teams from WPIAL AAAA would make the 6A and 6AA playoffs.
I did come away impressed with CH's QB Vescovi. He has absolutely nothing around him, but he can play D2 college football without a doubt. Carmen Felus (Juniata HC) should be all over him.

You have to realise, that PC's biggest test was BC and they lost 38-10, they also only beat BM Somerset and CC and CH by a combined 7 points. I think PC is really overrated this year, FH and jtown will show them in the next two weeks just like BC didWPIAL~Titan wrote:I witnessed the Penn Cambria-Cambria Heights contest last Friday night. I have to laugh every time I hear about Somerset Football...I recall maybe ten or so years ago. FH went up to Somerset for a Junior High/JV game...can't remember what team it was but the Rangers were giving the Eagles a good ole' fashion pounding. After halftime the Rangers came out... waited... waited... waited... Somerset never came out of the locker room. The coach came out and started flipping on Coach K and told him that the Rangers were hitting too hard...
