Re: Who made who?
I think that anyone who holds an argument that there is just something magical in the water in Sidman is not only irrational, they are also overestimating FH and vastly underestimating themselves.
If there was a coach at school X, and he was able to start winning games where there was previously little tradition, over time more kids would play that sport. That is, more white boys who are not anything above average athletically, which is what 90% of the J-town area schools are full of. Getting all those kids to want to play is how you win. You do not win state titles with a magical player. You win them with 21 others who are built into contributors.
I think if you guys are resigned to some delusional theory that FH simply has better athletes than Central Cambria based on where the school is located, you are doing nothing but making excuses for your own program.
Forest Hills is Forest Hills because of the 21 others, not just because of Brian Endler or Dudukovich.
And as for Don personally getting kids to play, Don's success recruits so its own. He built that thing with average white boys. Now it is special for all the average white boys to want to play for him.

Re: Who made who?
Bailey has built a great tradition & system at Forest Hills just like Franco at Tyrone & Hayes at Bellwood ~ all of these coaches have the passion of building their system from bottom up with a lot of coaches and volunteers committed to make the programs sucessful ~ Bailey is a remarkable individual and I had the chance to meet with him recently and you can see the passion he brings to the Forest Hill School District.
Re: Who made who?
Question? How good was FH before Bailey was there? Then compare how good BM was before Salem was there and if we all remember that Franco coached at Altoona and was very unsuccessful there. Put all of that out there.

Re: Who made who?
Franco wasn't "very unsuccessful" at Altoona, he had several good years and a dist title, a couple bad years at the end scued the record to 5 games under .500. Granted he didn't have the same numbers but he was good there too. Remember this, the best chef can't make chicken soup from chicken poop.

Re: Who made who?
Huge coach Bailey fan, but to say he wins with average talent is crazy to say.
After years and years, every coach in the area and every former FH player can predict FH's plays on Offense. Its pretty simple, he lines his boys up and go right after the opponent, because most of the time FH is bigger, stronger and just as athletic. To say its pure coaching is not even close! yes I think Mr Bailey is a great coach but has been blessed with some serious first, second and third generation players. FHers have pride since they are in elementary and playing peewee football together. Most little boys at FH cant wait to wear the green and gold, not just because their dad did but its pride built at a young age. I dont think he would have the same success at most area schools, but he would instill hard work, respect and dedication at any school he was at, because that is who he is. He built a juggernaut program over the years and reloads. I think now if some one was to take over, they would reap the rewards and be able to still win, because the ground work has been laid over the last 30 years by The Emperor, Coach Bailey. However I dont think to many coaches could have built what he has at Forest Hills....
One interesting fact, Coach Bailey might not have many d-1 athletes, but has many former players coaching at other area schools. It seems like area districts dont hesitate to take on a former FH f-ball player alumni, because they know they are taught to be hard workers and possess pride & dedication...........
So my thoughts are Forest Hills is a great program because of Hard Nose players and one Hard nosed leader in Coach Bailey~ Good Luck the rest of the season and bring home another District Title. Lookng forward to the McCort game after the past two years of not playing them.

Re: Who made who?
That poses an interesting side question: Which ex-Rangers are now coaching at other schools, and where? Off the top of my head, Joey Jones is in Suffolk, Va., he brought his team to Richland's passing camp in 2009 and kicked everyone's A##. Justin Myers, of course, at CH, Brandon Bailey, Richland, Josh Rearick I think @ Westy, Jeff Custer @ Glendale. Jim Poldiak @ PC, his Dad Pete is United's baseball Coach . Lance McGough is FH hoops coach. Help me out FH'ers. I could be wrong but I think Dustin Snyder is a coach somewhere out in the left coast area.
It ain't over until it's over.

One of the Bassett brothers in a line coach at either Johnstown or Westmont. I remember Terek used to be the head coach at CC. Most of FH's staff from 7-Varsity is FH grads also.

I don't think Dustin Snyder coaches anywhere. Last I heard he had a pastry shop somewhere in Texas!

Re: Who made who?
Okay, but are the kids bigger at FH b/c of some magic dust, or b/c they have a weight program and strong vertical integration? There is also a 7th grade program that is preparing these kids for junior high and then varsity. FH has always had great vertical integration and they have a great junior high staff.
Don did not do this on his own, and if I conveyed that poorly, thats my own fault. The point is, these kids do not show up in 10th grade w/ no football knowledge. Hundreds of FH kids played ball in Geistown as little kids, as well.
As for FH grads coaching, Chris Debias is coaching at Shippensburg and doing very well. Mike Terek is coaching in Texas, last I heard. Not sure what school, though. Its in Houston.
