What is with the rankings?
I looked at the rankings and I still don't understand how these USA Today knuckleheads rank the teams.
Last weekend, #20 South Carolina knocks off #1 Alabama. Both teams are in the SEC. After the game, both teams have only one loss. Yet somehow, Alabama comes out ranked higher still than South Carolina.
This weekend, #19 Wisconsin knocks off #1 Ohio State. Both teams are now 6-1, both teams are in the Big Ten. HOW IN THE WORLD does Ohio State come out ranked higher than Wisconsin.
A lot of people say, "well you have to compare schedules. blah blah blah"
Even if you do that, Wisconsin lost to an undefeated conference opponent, OSU did not...Wisconsin should be ranked higher.
And how is it that Alabama who's only "big" wins come to teams who were overrated when they played Bama and are now showing their true colors. I mean seriously. Penn State sucks, Florida Sucks, and Alabama is probably the weakest of all the top 25 teams.
WOULD SOMEBODY PLEASE EXPLAIN WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON.

That has never made sense to me that a team can play a team, beat them handily, have the same record after the game, but be ranked below them. It's a crock that Wisconsin would be ranked below Ohio State right now.
Terrell Pryor should walk in to Tressel's office tomorrow and tell him he wants to play Wide Receiver. He has no future as an NFL QB. Not even close.

He should walk into Thad Matta's office and say he wants to play Small Forward.

I'm not even trying to be a smart*** here, but is there a team in the country who should honestly be considered a top 15 team?

Re: What is with the rankings?
I think Auburn and Michigan State are two quality teams who deserve any high ranking they get. They play tough teams and win, even despite controversy.
A few weeks ago, I was hoping that the season would finish with 8 undefeated teams so that the BCS would just turn over on itself and no one would know what to do. Now i hope that every big six team loses at least 2 games and Boise State and either TCU or Utah both go undefeated. That way there is no excuse for the pocket-lining BCS people to place anyone else in the championship.
What do you all think of the new rankings?

Re: What is with the rankings?
Why do you think they paired TCU/Boise with each other last year? Can't have them knocking off Oklahoma again, then they'd have no argument against a playoff. I hope USC beats Oregon and Boise can play the Utah/TCU winner for the BCS title...bet you'd have a playoff next year.

The Auburn/Alabama winner will most likely play for the National title, regardless of who it is, providing they win the SEC Championship. I look for a one-loss Bama to face TCU/Utah or Boise State in the National Championship after beating Auburn and winning the SEC title the next week. That is unless Michigan State goes unbeaten, because they'll find a way to sneak Michigan State in over an unbeaten non-AQ, regardless of the fact that they'll be slaughtered by the SEC champion.Eaglealum wrote:Why do you think they paired TCU/Boise with each other last year? Oregon will stumble at some point the rest of the way with a pretty meaty schedule. USC, Arizona and Oregon State are all very good football teams, while Cal and Washington can be a giant killer on any given Saturday.
National Title: Auburn (if unbeaten) or Alabama vs Michigan State (if unbeaten) or Boise State
Rose Bowl: Boise State (if Michigan State goes to the NC) or TCU/Utah vs Oregon
Orange Bowl: ACC Champion vs Wisconsin/Ohio State or TCU/Utah
Sugar Bowl: Auburn (if they lose to Alabama) vs Wisconsin/Ohio State
Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma/Nebraska vs Big East Champion
