Mt. Lebanon, Shaler dominate basketball playoff pairings

It's been a good year for the high school boys and girls basketball teams at Shaler and Mt. Lebanon, and it shows in the WPIAL playoff seedings.

The WPIAL released its playoff pairings and seedings this evening. The playoffs begin Friday with games at neutral sites, and culminate with eight championship games at Duquesne University's Palumbo Center March 4-5.

In Class AAAA boys, Shaler is the No. 1 seed and Mt. Lebanon No. 2. In Class AAAA girls, the two schools flip-flopped. Mt. Lebanon is the No. 1 seed and Shaler is No. 2. For playoff pairings and brackets, go to http://www.wpial.org.

Class AAAA -- 1. Shaler. 2. Mt. Lebanon. 3. North Allegheny. 4. Gateway.

Class AAA -- 1. South Fayette. 2. West Mifflin. 3. Blackhawk. 4. New Castle.

Class AA -- 1. Greensburg Central Catholic. 2. Beaver Falls. 3. Monessen. 4. Quaker Valley.
