Johnstown Colt League

Post by sportsfan75 »

I have been complete appalled at how the coaches in this league have been coaching these young men. I have watched several games this year and it makes me sick to my stomach that they are aloud to behave like complete idiots and allow the kids to do the same.

I wouldn't say all coaches in the colt league are pathetic. I have to tip my hap to coach Unger on Johnstown Construction. Doesn't go deep in recruiting but teaches his players quality ball and provides plenty of leadership to his squad. Might not have the best records in the past 6-8 years but his teams are competitive and DEFINATELY have a shot in winning the league this year. Gotta pull for this guy! he is the senior compadre of the league!

Yes, you are correct about Unger. I do know several kids that have played for him and that still do and I agree he is the exception. I know of several coaches that are just not good examples for these kids.

I went to a Colt game the other night, (JC and Clippers) and it was a shame to watch Willis Dubose to the bases. Horrible job! The only thing he enjoys doing is talking to both sides when the opportunity arises. He is "Mr. Make-Up Call" when i can. Bottom line is that i attended quite a few games this summer, and this is the first time i saw him out in the field. Made the other umpire look just as bad. The time has past him up, especially in baseball and basketball. Do us a favor and just stick to softball! JC had the game won, but at least 4 cruical calls with no decisive answer made this team faulter. Oh well..I burned it up long enough!

^ Yes i have to agree that the umpires in this league are horrible. I have seen some of the worst calls in many years of watching baseball. I also feel that if you are not the Breakers or Delweld then you probably shouldn't look for any calls to go your way. How are kids suppose to feel confident in there play if you have the umpires making calls that are clearly wrong. I truly feel that they need a new generation of umpires and get those who can't see and barely walk across the field making these calls.
