Conference Shuffle 2011
Reading between the lines where Texas A&M has placed on their Board of Regents Agenda, "Conference Expansion" and Florida State's President made a statement to quell rumors that they were going to the SEC in which he said "All they are at the moment is rumors."
Looks to me like very decent chance we'll see Texas A&M and Florida State to the SEC

Re: Conference Shuffle 2011
I would love for this to create a domino scenario where Notre Dame and Pitt end up in the Big Ten. It's a pipe dream, but would make for a year in and year out awesome schedule for Penn State.

Kirk,
Have to agree with you on the domino effect. I can actually see Missouri jumping from the Big 12 ship too. Notre Dame doesn't need the Big Ten...right now. When their television contract with NBC runs out in 2013 that may be a different story. The ratings for their games have been consistently lower than ABC and CBS broadcasts because of how poor the Irish teams have been. Maybe that plays into their decision making should the SEC create a 16 team super conference.
I'd actually like to see the Big Ten go after ND and Virginia Tech if at all possible. If not Virginia Tech, then Rutgers for the New York media market. Should Missouri not go to the SEC, then I think you have to look at them again as well with network expansion into the St. Louis market.
One thing that surprised me was Nebraska's ouster from the AAU. I don't think (or hope) AAU membership is as big of a factor as it was last year when conference expansions were happening.

You will see Pitt and WVU joining the ACC in the very near future.

Re: Conference Shuffle 2011
I hope you are correct....Pitt to the ACC is better than to the Big 10 IMO and the Big East (and Big 12) appear to be the doomed-conference as the superconference steamroller moves on.

Re: Conference Shuffle 2011
You wont see Virginia Tech anywhere near the Big Ten, for the sole fact they are not an AAU school and the Big Ten dominates the academic realm.
Pitt should, and hopefully will be, smart enough to accept a Big Ten invitation if one is ever extended. WVU also is not an AAU school.
