You know what, when I feel I'm wrong, or someone manages to convince me I was wrong, I'm MAN enough to openly apologize on this board. I went back 3 or 4 pages on this thread, reviewing what everyone had said. Other than sticking up for Unger and Ohler, WHO- just tell me WHO- I, specifically called out. I usually speak in generalities and if you got your thong up in your butt because I said something that had the ring of truth in it, Man up about it. Others on here, Eaglealum, Football Wizard, Moldo, OG, All seem to agree with ME, not you. Therefore, I claim majority rule and declare you wrong and out of line. BTW- how old did you say you were, I missed it. What's your first class tomorrow.
It ain't over until it's over.

Manfred,
I didn't say you called out anyone in this thread. The conversation started and I think it's just in bad taste to criticise a hs player. It's as simple as that. Agree or disagree with me but I don't think its appropriate.

Obama also got the majority of votes and you see how well that is turning out. I'm just shocked that your FH buddies agree with you.

Lastly, let me try and follow your logic. I think it is in bad taste to criticise a hs kid. How exactly does that opinion make you think I am in high school? Many times over the years I have suggested a bleachercoaches meet and greet at a bar to talk high school football. I have a passion for hs football like most on this board and I thought there would be more interesting coversations than the bantering (which I am also guilty of) that happens on this board. Since it has never happened I suppose I am in the minority on that. Heck, I would even come up to that high class joint with all the dead animal carcasses hanging from the wall across from your high school. I also said many times on this board when I graduated from JHS. Early 90s. You can believe me or not, I don't care either way.

I detect a somewhat mellower tone in your last post. That's admirable. Remember that when you call someone to "out" themselves from behind a screenname. I will do just that, right after everyone else here does. I urge you to reread your post last page, Sat. 4:05 PM, where you (quote): "when you (meaning me, because thats who you were responding to) criticize a hs kid". I asked what kid did I mention by name. I DID not name anyone. Therefore you were wrong. There are people who merit praise when it is due. By the same token, when they screw up they also have to accept the scrutiny. You can't have it only 1 way. I guess once again, there is a generational gap that you folks of the 90's and newer, just don't get. Like a few others on here, we can only agree to disagree. Thank GOD and the US Military for a free nation where that's possible.
It ain't over until it's over.

I have tried to convince people on here to meet up, not for drinks and football talk, but to knuckle up and stop this online tuff guy situation.

Manfred, The US needs to be more like Israel like we need 4 more years of Obama. I mean if we could be more like Israel maybe we would just throw our Canadian neighbors out of their homes and squat in their yards because they like hockey more than football.

This whole thing is beyond ridculous. Manfred you talk about all these values you have and that the 90's generation kids have lost them, but you won't put your name up and stand by what you say. Sounds like there is a lack of accounatbility on your part. When a food, music, or movie critic writes something they throw their name on their work. So you wanna talk about growing a pair, grow a pair old man and put your name up here.

I will agree with you in one respect. If you are gonna play this game or any game for any amount of time you better have some tough skin, cause sometimes you may play great and sometimes you may play terrible. The other thing is, if you dont wanna see the garbage people have to say about your game don't come on the website.

Well I'm done I have written my peace. Good luck to everybody this year, stay healthy, but have fun thats why you put pads on and lace cleats up. If you've been called out by name on this website, either step your game up or just don't read this garbage. Also, Go Crimson and Gold.

Not only should we be allowed to praise or criticize a high school football player on this site, but I think officials should announce the number of the player who committed a penalty during a play. And one more thing: what's with this high 5 stuff given to athletes after they $crew up durng a game. You didn't see this in my day. For example: a player steps up to the foul line during a critical point in a basketball game. He promptly misses the first of 2 shots, and his buddies come over to him and give him five. It's like they're congratulating him for his effort. WHY??????? He may have just cost you the game!!!!!! Does he have to be encouraged???? How about in volleyball. Close game and the player serves the ball into the net. Her buddies on the court come over to her and give her five. WHY????? And in football: the tight end just drops a pass that would have gone for a big gain. He's given the high 5 when he comes back to the huddle. WHY????? In my day, EVERYONE knew you $crewed up and it was tough facing your teammates after a big mistake. You let them down!!! So you $ucked it up and tried harder the next time. Are we babying players too much nowadays? OOOOOhhh, we might hurt someone's feelings if we mentioned their mistakes. Wouldn't want that to happen, would we? Maybe out athletes would try a little harder if they realized that their mistakes are HURTING their teammates.

Moldo your right every mistake should be punished. I think 5 lashes for a dropped pass. If you miss a field goal you should be flogged. If you jump of side we ought to take off your fingure nail. The fact is some folks don't respond well to negative reinforcement. If you chew a kid out two things will happen one, he may play better, two he will be a head case and of no use. It is a game.

IT IS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL. IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN for the PLAYERS. The game is not to entertain old men dreaming of their glory days and saying how much more disiplined, tougher and more hard working they were than kids today. That is why we have the NFL. Let kids be kids and play football. Let these KIDS have fun.

I couldn't agree more..ITS JUST A GAME apparently all these folks criticizing. High schools kids for not making a play or making a mistake never played a sport or if the did.they must have made a few themselves or they wouldn't be on here writing posts they would be in a training room preparing for this week game

LEARN from your mistakes. Who said anything about punishment? Did I say one athlete should "chew out" another? It's just that you don't CONGRATULATE an athlete on the field for EFFORT. Hell, everybody TRIES. I mean, if everytime I saw a player high five another for missing a foul shot. I wonder if these same kids are going to expect the same type of "nice try" response when they enter the business world, or the armed forces. I understand this is high school, and sports is supposed to be fun. But isn't this where the student-athlete sets his foundations for the future. Aren't missing fouls shots, serving into the net, and dropping passes a sign that not only are you letting your team down, but also yourself. Sure, it's not the end of the world, but where do the congratulations stop? If your fumble loses the game, YOU SHOULD FEEL BAD. Don't expect your teammates to come around and say, "Hey, that's O.K.", because it isn't.
