Will the next Kephart come from Westmont?
Re: Will the next Kephart come from Westmont?
Semantics: I wasn't concerned about WH wrestling. But I was concerned about another advantage BM has in football over other teams they play. And where have YOU been? I've always brought up about "newcomers" transferring into BM and taking the positions of those kids already there. And why should this be on the wrestling forum? Didn't you read my opening post? It has EVERYTHING to do with Westmont and BM football and how it affects ALL teams in the LHAC. And I NEVER liked Ferndale being in a co-op with Westmont. There have been SEVERAL Ferndale wrestlers over the years who have made Westy wrestling more competitive. Isn't that some kind of unfair advantage over the teams Westy wrestled? Add one or two wrestlers from Ferndale and that could be icing on the cake for Westy. YOU are welcome to start a topic about this in the wrestling forum. Otherwise, let's us talk about how this move affects local football, stop complaining, and move on to the wrestling site.

If the AD truly had no input then its clear the school board has zero value in her as a decisoin maker. Again, why even have this position in a school if they have no input? Instead of calling this person the athletic director they can call them the bus scheduler and the contest babysitter because that's all they are. If they don't have a say in the most important decisions then eliminate them and let the school board handle the day to day duties.froshwrestling wrote:Shirts and ties made the decsion, but no not jeans. School board made the decision. There was no input from the coach or AD.
Re: Will the next Kephart come from Westmont?
This hurts every team in the LHAC in regards to football. Another reason why a kid would/could transfer to McCort. I feel bad for the Westy football players they were sold out at the expense of the wrestling team. I think the LHAC should throw them out and let Ridge in at least they would be more similar in size to the other schools! It sounds like this decision was made by someone whose son only wrestles? Westmont can never complain about private schools, they just pulled the same sh$?! Maybe they should be renamed Bishop Hilltop.

The obsession continues.

Moldy, if sporty didn't have you or I , to respond to our posts in particular, he'd have NUTHIN!
It ain't over until it's over.
Re: Will the next Kephart come from Westmont?
Moldy, I couldn't agree with you more. This will mean that McCrut will probably pickup around 6 more boys a year. The 12th Man Club and the leaders at McCrut are laughing all the way to their trophy case.

BM was able to get 20 NEW freshmen admitted to their school at FULL tuition ($100,000) , several of which will undoubtedly be a big part of their football program when they play varsity ball over the next 3 years. Now, there's even a BIGGER COUP. How did McCort FINAGLE Westmont into letting them join a co-op with Westy's wrestling program? This is unbelieveable!!! Didn't Westmont learn ANYTHING from the Kephart situation between Portage and Bishop Carroll???? Could this be the death knell of Westmont football? And won't this also affect transfers to McCort from some of the other neighboring schools?
....One of the factors keeping public school football players from transferring to McCort has been the fact that BM had NO wrestling program. I'm sure, many local football players, who also wrestle, would have considered going to McCort from their public schools, if BM would have had wrestling. But the fact that BM had NO wrestling team, it kept them in their home district. Take schools over the past years which had sub-par football programs. Westmont, Richland, Ligonier, Somerset to name a few. Kids who played football for these programs were STUCK at their home schools because transferring would have prevented them from wrestling. BUT NOW, kids from these public schools may entertain playing football at BM, because they can wrestle TOO! They'll have the best of both worlds. Football for McCort, Westmont for Wrestling. This is even a better situation than Kephart had at Portage/BC. He got to do BOTH, but with BM/Westy, you have TWO winning programs. McCort football and Westy wrestling. How beautiful is this????? And let's not forget to consider those kids from Johnstown, FH, Township, NS, etc who just might want to partake of this new football/wrestling scenario.
....You got to wonder what the heck Westmont was thinking. With their football program alreasdy in shambles, are they gonna lose some of their best football players who also wrestle? Did those running their football program realize this??? And you got to feel sorry for the young Westy wrestlers who have been waiting for their chance to move into the starting line-up, only to possibly see their chances dwindle when new guys show up for the team.
....Three guys with the biggest smiles on their faces tonight are Matt Beaujon, Kevin Sheridan, and of course, Ken Salem. Forget everyone else. They are the ones who stand to gain the most from this announcement in today's Tribune. Beaujon gets some new talent. Sheridan and Salem have a chance to get good football players who normally would have stayed in their home districts which offered wrestling. Too bad for everyone else.
Can anybody from Westmont tell me what benefit Westmont is or thinks they are getting from this agreement?
