I really haven't been a Penn State fan, but know I think I am going to be a die hard fan because of a statement like this from Short.

Brandon Short and Lavar are making themselves look foolish and hurting the program. Real Classy

As for O'Brien, he certainly wasn't my first choice, but he was way ahead of Bradley, LJ, or Vanderlinden in my book. Why the heck would you want anyone associated with this football program right now coaching is beyond me. Tom Bradley is too soft to be a successful head coach. His brief audition went horribly with player fights, losses, and ineptitude.

They say O'Brien does not know the Penn State way.....

I ask what HAS been the Penn State way the past 10+ years....

A. an ESPN special on Penn State player arrests
B. A Coach collecting wins in the press box while his coaches do all the work
C. Sandusky scandal
D. Losing every Big Game possible with the exception of a few
E. An Offense that's biggest addition in the past 30 years was the shotgun formation

Give me a break and give the guy a chance.

I pretty much agree. Let's face it, what high profile coach wants to touch PSU right now? Saben, Miles? Give me a break. Why would you ever leave an SEC power for PSU. I am a PSU fan but common.

O'Brien has some college experience and been tutored by someone who most think is one of the best of all time for the past few years.

He might not be what you might have dreamed of. But... Thanks to alot of people turning their heads and allowing this scandel to become what it did, this might be the best PSU could have done.

All the former players and current players want Bradley. Personally, I'm glad he's gone.

His defense's work in the Big10 scheme for 6 games a year. When they played a team that wasn't a run-first team, they get carved up (see TicketCity Bowl)

Bradley was 1-3 as interim coach. There was a fight in the locker room that knocked out the starting quarter back for the bowl game. He's a JoePa clone. Nothing would have changed.

As a fan looking for change for the past 10 years a new face is a welcome sight. I just hope he gets a fair shake and is allowed to do what he feels he needs to do in order to get PSU going in a normal direction.

This has a very RichRod feel to it right out of the box though...

Lavar Arrington and Brandon Short: definitely two individuals whose opinion I would much value if I was Dave Joyner. :)) :)) :))

Don't remember as well as I used to but weren't both of them in Paterno's doghouse at one time or another when they were playing?

I wanted Bradley when Munchak said No. Then I saw Penn State give up 380 in the air in one half. Tommy, thanks for the memories, see ya at Coney Island.

I'm just very underwhelmed w/ O'Brien.

If he wins, everything will be ok. If he dosn't, then everyone else was right. Unless PSU, had gotten a big name coach, no one would have been happy. Wish the best for the program. I'm not sold on him for the fact he wasn't a head coach before. Plus, i'm not sure if he can recurit at the college level. Hope he proves me wrong. I just think it was a bad choice, and yet another rash decesion by the board.

They will be looking again in April.....If he spazzes out on Tom Brady, what do you think he's gunna do to McGroin and Bloden?

Really. What did it take to run New England's offense this year. O'Brien's only decisions were whether or not to have Brady under center or in shotgun.

He's coached Tom Brady since 2009. The fact that he's coached any quarterbacks outside of state college gives me hope. He's an NFL guy who's great at networking with other NFL people. He'll bring in a staff that can make up the other ends of the team. If he's given a fair chance, he has all the opportunity in the world to succeed. That, at this point, is a big big IF.
