Horton resigns at Central

Post by S Cube »

John Horton has stepped down as head coach of the Scarlet Dragons. Rumors swirled a bit over the winter that Dave Marko could be interested in coaching at Central with his connections to the Cove. Could this be his opportunity? Central's program is in for an upswing with a lot of talent working its way through the system and the cupboard is a bit bare at CK right now. I'm going to go out on a limb and say the time is now for Marko to make the change. The Altoona Mirror also said they would be hiring new Junior High coaches also. Is Shad Benton done coaching or does that mean he will be after the Varsity job?

They have some nice talent coming up. The right guy could have them right up with the best of them in a few years.

Benton was actually on the Varsity bench with Horton this year...I also heard he actually resigned before John's became official...I think it was Benji H that had the jr high job for a year..mind escaping me at the moment...Heater or Heaton?

I saw in the morrisons cove herald 2 or 3 weeks ago that Benton resigned. Sneakers, Benji Heeter was the junior high coach this past season

Coach Marko lives in the SC school district. His children play sports in the district.
Would make a logical choice but would be leaving an established program with support at CK.
I have always been impressed with Coach Marko's kids and his intensity and prescence during the matches.
Central would be fortunate for Coach Marko to consider the job.

Marko ain't leaving Claysburg any time soon......the rumors I heard have a co-op between Claysburg and Spring Cove, and that would be a scary-good team.

Sneaks, it is Heater. That could get very interesting. I just can't see Marko leaving Claysburg, but you never know.

boxer I heard the same Central to Claysburg coop idea a few weeks ago.

I also heard that Central inquired if NBC would be interested in a coop and NBC declined.
