Pitt Fall Camp position situations.
Re: Pitt Fall Camp position situations.
Penn State's sanctions began, what, a month ago? It's way to early to tell how Pitt will 'profit' from the sanctions. There is a lot of recruiting to be done and games to be played over the next 4 years.
And I'm well aware Kirk wasn't huge on JoePa. Since he concluded that all of us Pitt fans get off on all things Penn State, then we might as well conclude that all PSU fans worship Paterno.

I don't see benefiting all that much instantaneously from the sanctions. How could anything really be accomplished within a month? They offered Ross Douglas the second he decommitted. They were probably all over Doiran Johnson the past month, and who knows? It may pay off. Not sure what else they can do?
The result of the sanctions will happen over the next five years. Apparently the class of 2014 will be a good one for Western Pa. Gateway has a legitimate 5 star Safety along with 4 other D1 prospects. Beaver Falls and Aliquippa both have multiple D1 players. Chandler Kincade (Pitt commit) is from Blackhawk. The younger Rawlins from Monessen....ect ect. Next year is loaded in terms of Western Pennsylvania prospects.Pitt needs to capitalize there

Re: Pitt Fall Camp position situations.
Pitt had little to no chance with any of the kids who left. Those kids saw it as a chance to go somewhere to win a Championship. Outside of a 6 year window in the late 70's and early 80's Pitt has been a mid rate school as far as rankings and record. Ohio State and Michigan will get the kids they always got from Pittsburgh over Penn State, then also get the players Penn State go.
The only tough part about it will be watching Penn State become Pitt.

I see where Dorian Johnson AND Zach Bradshaw decommitted yesterday. So there ARE alot of kids out there who have left PSU. But is there anyone that Pitt really would have wanted? Really? I'm sure Dorian Johnson is on everybody's list. Otherwise? I know the local bars in Pittsburgh were hoping that Anthony Fera would show up in town.

Re: Pitt Fall Camp position situations.
You don't think they'd want Paul Jones with Tino, Voytik, and Savage on campus? As at the very least a fall back
You don't think they wanted Mike Hull or Khari Fortt at Linebacker?
You don't think Justin Brown could have helped their receivers? Spare me that you think you are set at that position
As for The decommitted recruits Pitt would instantly take any of them and they'd be the some of the better recruits they had. Spare me the opinion that Pitt would not have wanted them, because if they don';t then id really question their recruiting, because it hasnt been impressive thus far

Re: Pitt Fall Camp position situations.
Give me a break. First of all, you said Pitt had "little chance with any of the kids who left Penn State". So why bring up Paul Jones and Mike Hull? They haven't left. And what have Khari Fortt and Justin Brown done at PSU to make them so attractive? And except for the "2013 recruits that have left", Johnson is desired by everyone. But otherwise, there is alot of high school football to be played this year. NO ONE has taken a snap this year yet. No one knows WHO will be wanted by colleges yet. So don't stand there and say that Pitt would break their neck trying to get PSU dissidents. There's plenty of fish in the sea.

Re: Pitt Fall Camp position situations.
Exactly, Pitt brought them on campus and failed in their efforts to bring them aboard. That is why they were brought up
Justin Brown and Khair Fortt were good enough for Oklahoma and California. You think Pitt has better receivers than Oklahoma?
I also take it you have not seen Pitt's recruiting this year. It's not good, but I don't think you care. You are too wrapped up in your Penn State obsession.

This is going to get real interesting next offseason. With McGloin gone, who is the starter at Penn State? I'm told Paul Jones is the guy and has finally gotten his act together on the field and in the classroom. But what if he stumbles there someplace? Do you go with Bench? Do you play Hackenberg as a true freshman? I'm not being sarcastic when I say that there's a good possibility that Jones might end up at Pitt to be the starter in 2013.
Guys... there were like 50+ schools contacting some of these potential transfers. Pitt thought highly enough of Mike Hull to persuade him to come and visit the team and feel it all out. Pitt isn't bare at LB but this kid is special, as was Fortt. You guys have to just accept the fact that Ron Vanderlinen is probably the best LB coach in America; any time you have a chance to get a kid that he has coached, you take that chance.
Hasn't it already been decided by mom and dad that Dorian Johnson isn't even considering Pitt?
We can sit here and argue all day about which team is better, but it comes down to one thing: Pitt needs to win football games. That program is stagnant and needs momentum and maybe they will find it w/ the new regime. But until they do, Pitt is Pitt. You guys know how frustrating they are to watch.

Also, when hearing the news of all these defections, you sure don't see ESPN reporting that Brandon Bell and Zayd Issah were on campus yesterday and reaffirmed their commitments. Maybe they leave in the fture, who knows, but thats not the point. And you sure dont hear as many ppl talking about Akeel Lynch staying (integral) as you do in 4th string OL leaving the program (Nowicki) or a walk-on backup Safety that not even hardcore PSU meatheads have ever heard of (Buckley).

Re: Pitt Fall Camp position situations.
TAE i think when all is said and done Hackenberg decommits as does the majority of their other current recruits. The only slim chance I see staying is Brenneman and I think Ohio State will finally convince him to go once all the others leave. I think once they sit down and think about everything it makes too much sense to go. They may love the school and O'Brien, but in the end, there is too much reason to leave.
