Re: District 6 August meeting
Thomas Kakabar moved and Alberta Ake seconded the motion to grant eligibility to Holly Lyons,
transferring from Central Cambria to Bishop McCort. Holly is eligible to participate in basketball at
Bishop McCort. The vote was 12-0.
This is a perfect example of private schools having an unfair advantage over public school. Why is Miss Lyons transferring from CC to McCort and not Bishop Carroll? I'm guessing BM has a better basketball program.

Re: District 6 August meeting
As far as which grades are "voted on", it is possible then that BM got 9 athletes, AND up to 20 more from the Lift Scholarships. WOW!!! And of the 9 voted on, 4 were girl's basketball players. And I too thought it was odd that a young lady from CC would transfer to BM. Another came from Ligonier. Also, were the two boys who transferred from Westmont to BM "wrestlers" at Westy? Could have been some other selling point besides religion, academics and discipline.

Re: District 6 August meeting
After reading the first page I also was going to post about the young woman transferring from Central Cambria to McCort, with no "NO" votes apparently no one contested this interesting move. I guess McCort's religion courses must be superior than Carroll's .
Re: District 6 August meeting
Once again, in the interest of fairness, I'd like to point out that Mr. Kakabar is a former grad of Bishop McCort Catholic HS. In no way am I implying any sort of shady dealing here, but in the case of -ANY- transfer to BMCHS, to be fair, Mr. Kakabar should abstain from any decision that MIGHT make it look like some kind of collusion. In the same way as a trial Judge excuses himself from a case because he maybe has family or friends involved in a case he is presented with. IMHO.
It ain't over until it's over.

Re: District 6 August meeting
Can someone explain to me why these votes are always unanimous? Why no dissent from the public schools? Until these people grow a set then why should all the criticism be directed toward the private schools? These public school ADs/principals need to be asked why they keep their mouths shut. Why do i never hear anyone on here criticizing their own administrators?
Re: District 6 August meeting
The narrative at one time was that D-6 committee challenged a high-profile transfer years ago (Hollidaysburg to BG) that they felt was clearly for athletic reasons and it was taken to court and overturned and nearly every transfer vote has been unanimous since. Whether that's still the mindset of the current committee members, I can't say.sportsfan1000 wrote:Can someone explain to me why these votes are always unanimous? I would also find it very ironic if T.J. would ever vote no on a transfer to McCort (or even B.C. or B.G.)
