Taillon to Altoona

Jameson Taillon is scheduled to make his first AA start Tuesday for the Curve. I don't see him getting a September call up, but I do hope Cole gets the call. Cole and Taillon both in Altoona, how exciting is that?!?

Real exciting, plus Heredia is right up the street in State College. The three most important Pirate prospects are right in our back yard. I hope everyone gets a chance to take advantage. I plan on going to see Taillon in the near future, does anyone know if there is a probable pitcher list for the Curve? I'd like to plan to go see one of the two this year.


I could see Cole start in AAA next year and get the call to the bigs fairly quick. Taillon will start in Altoona and replace Cole in Indy (if he's ready). I like the way things are looking for both of them.

Also the four of the better position player prospects are in low A West Virginia....Maybe they will skip over High A and be in Altoona next season.

The Curve will likely get Alex Dickerson next season. 22 year old First Basemen. Leads the entire organization with 87 RBI's and supports a .305 Batting Average. I think he could be a good one.

Tallion will go next Sunday and Cole Monday at home vs Richmond, last appearance in Altoona for the year for both...I got tix for Sunday

The way they used up pitchers yesterday, including todays starter, Someones getting called today.

Cole getting called up is a good question. He only has 115 innings so far, and if he stays on schedule he only gets three more starts at AA so he should get about 18-20 more innings. I have to think the FO would like to have him around 145-150 innings by the end of the season. Assuming the AAA club makes the playoffs, I can see Cole getting the call to AAA to help with their playoffs.

I got to see him pitch for the first time on the 17th. The first two innings he didn't look very impressive, but then he started to heat up. The guy sitting beside me said he's only throwing 92-94 not that impressive, and then the next three pitches on the park pitch gun showed 99, 98, 99, wow, and they were strikes. The Altoona Mirror article the next day said two of the pitches actually were over 100 on the Pirates' team gun. First Curve pitcher ever to hit 100. That is all I need to know about Cole's potential.

After the struggles of Matt Curry, I will be shocked to see any position player skip a level in the future. IMO if Hansen and/or Polanco would not have gotten injured they would have made the jump to High A this season with the possibility of being in Altoona by the end of next season, but that becomes less likely with them staying at Low A all this season.

Wilson or McPherson up today to pitch tonight? Both on 40 man so that gives them the inside track.

I could see that happening....And although the guy isn't my favorite...But Kevin Correia volunteered to start today after yesterday's win. Good team first mentality on his part

Tallion looked great last nite....consistantly hit 94-96 on the gun and if it's 2mph behind like the mirror says ...that's 96-98, his curve was sharp! More over the top, it looked like it hit an invisible net in front of the plate and just dropped 2 ft. I can't believe he only struck out 6 in 6 inn.(on just 68 pitches- 57 strikes). Only gave up 1 hit in 6 and had a no-no into the 5th. Very impressive for a kid that can't buy beer yet.

Sounded like Cole gutted out a nice performance tonight. He had a bunch of walks, but worked his way out of it.
