Another coverup??
I have thought a lot about starting this new topic, but unlike WPIAL Titan I do have a life other than this site. I would like Titan to explain on the latest child abuse case, this time in the Catholic church with the latest priest reassigned from his Mount Union parish. I would like Titan's opinion, punishment, and explanation on how this terrible act can still be going on and no solution to the problem has occurred. I am asking Titan since he is such an expert on how these things can be covered up (this time for a long time), and whose heads should roll, and what events actually happened when the rest of us aren't sure.
Before anybody thinks I am bashing the Catholic faith, I am NOT. I just want to see how Titan solves this problem. Does he shut down all Catholic churches (the Death Penalty), arrest all church members, because they should have known something was up, or just what does he think?? I'm just curious.

Re: Another coverup??
For starters, why should ALL Catholic churches be shut down? Not EVERY college football program should be shut down just because of what happened at PSU? Should all local high schools be punished, if for example, a teacher at Richland abuses a student? Of course not. Please use a better example.

Re: Another coverup??
I agree with what El Moldo said.
PSU's leadership, led by Paterno and his lap dogs Curley, Shultz, and Spanier, was the sole institution that promoted this evil. The shoddy 1998 investigation from the DA was also obviously a contributing factor as well.
Paterno and his underlings did whatever was necessary to protect the football program while sacrificing the souls of who knows how many young boys. Catholicism is a worldwide institution; PSU is a small cultlike religion contained to central PA and some of the alums. Bad comparison. That university has created their own sanctimonious arrogance, through "We Are", which has resulted in bad religion centering around their their (false) God Paterno, a high priest Sandusky, who promoted himself as a do-gooder and glad hander through The Second Mile, all while using the PSU football program as the bait for his prey. As far as I and most of the rest of the world is concerned, PSU is reaping what they have sowed.
...Beside, the sanctity of the PSU football program should be the LEAST of PSU's worries at this point, yet all the PSU football cult cares about is complaining about the sanctions, and how unfair they are.
Instead, the cult should be worried about how the university will restore the trust, faith, integrity, and honesty that the many many fine and upstanding students and alums there deserve, not worried about losing football scholarships, paying fines, and having some victories of their false God vacated.

Was that a politically-correct response? It was more useless diatribe about PSU, and did not answer the post-er's question in the least. I'm just saying. I'm not Catholic. And I'm not in any way defending your favorite whipping boyz.
It ain't over until it's over.

Re: Another coverup??
Absolutely. He avoids the question. It might not be a good example, but I just wanted to point out that you don't shut down a whole institution because of the deeds of one individual. Sandusky did the acts and Titan jumps on the whole institution of PSU. That is just as unfair as people jude the whole Catholic faith because of the deeds of one person. That was the point to my comparison.

Re: Another coverup??
Read the last paragraph of my post in this thread if you think that I am all about shutting down the WHOLE UNIVERSITY for the acts of Sandusky AND those who covered it up, led by Paterno...Where do I say that?
I'm talking about PSU taking care of what should be their priority, which SHOULD be education, rather than Football.
Thanks for proving my point that the cult thinks that FOOTBALL IS THE UNIVERSITY and clearly the health of the football program and the legacy of your false God is the top priority to PSU football cultists like you. Also this scandal wasn't just created by Sandusky. He was the vehicle, but he could have been stopped. Twice. Paterno had the chance to become a true hero. He failed. So many others failed as well, but Paterno was the God, the cult icon who could have stopped this immediately.
If football wasn't the top priority at PSU, do you think that they'd be in this mess in the first place?

Re: Another coverup??
As with President Clinton and Monica Lewinsky, the COVER-UP was worse than the deed itself. It was the cover-up that got him in the most trouble. In the case of PSU, the deed AND the cover-up were atrocious.
