College Football Playoff question.....

So I really do not know how this thing works.

SOOO, we have a Final 4. Two SemiFinals and a Championship. Those Semi Finals are not bowl games, just two games, right?


And there is still a major bowl collection like the Rose,Sugar,Fiesta ect....

What are considered the BCS Games not in the Final 4?

The way I understand it, their will be six bowls (no more BCS). Two of those bowls each year will host the semifinals and the other 4 will have major matchups in a system similar to, but not exactly like the current BCS.

Orange is automatically tied into the ACC champ, Rose to B-10/pac-12, and Champions Bowl (which hasn't been determined, could be the Cotton, Sugar, Chick-filet or Houston??) has SEC and Big 12. These bowls will get top team from that conference, could be champion or runnerup or third even. Fiesta will be one of the other bowls along with the Sugar if they don't get the Big 12/SEC game.

Semifinals will float among the six bowls and although it appears that will mean every 3 years each bowl will get to host, their is some train of thought that the Rose, in particular, and maybe others, won't want the semifinals more than once or twice in a 12-year cycle.

Championship game will be bid out seperately, not a Bowl Game.

I think the Semifinals are scheduled for New Years Eve night and New Years Night with the Rose Bowl maintaining their Late afternoon NY Day spot and the 3 other bowls on New Years Day and New Years Eve to put a renewed emphasis on New Years Day again.

So lets dissect this thing if the AP Top 25 is the Final poll and the playoffs started tomorrow.

Semi Final (Rose)-LSU (#2) vs. Oregon (#3)
Semi Final (Sugar)-Alabama (#1) vs. Florida State (#4)
Championship (Jerry Jones palace)-Winners

Champions Bowl (Cotton)-Oklahoma vs. South Carolina
Orange Bowl-Clemson vs. Notre Dame
Fiesta Bowl-WVU vs. Stanford
Chick-fil-A-Georgia vs. Texas



Am I way off base? or does that seem right.

I kind of wish there would be a 6 team playoff with two byes or an 8 team playoff, but that weekend of football

So in this scenario we got 4 SEC teams, 3 Big-12 teams, 2 ACC teams, 2 PAC 12, and an independent?

I just thought that this would give more mid-major's a chance at Big Bowl money...I know its early but basically 4 conferences get all the representation in 7 major bowl games. I can really see this system make the rich, much richer and the poor, much poorer. Looking at that scenario the SEC could be paid based off of what would be equivalent to today 6 BCS bowl games.

I'd imagine a big ten team or two gets in also. 5 conferences and ND. But by seasons end, Boise or Louisville could get in too.

Do you not see where this could make the rich, richer? I mean this basically means SEC is guarenteed payout on 4 BCS games yearly. Let's face it even on a down year the SEC is going to have a team in the playoff, and at least two more in the other 4 bowls. Assuming that the playoff team makes the championship they are paid on what's equivalent to 4 BCS bowl games of today. I see where this could really make it tough for other conferences down the road.
