I know for a fact the Bishops recruit. I can give you 3 girls that were offered full schollarships and rides to Carrol after PM won thier last D6 volleyball title and went to the state playoffs in Basketball. They were told the offer was for being godd christian girls. Not because they were all starters on the volleyball and basketball teams. They COULD play sports if they wanted. No other girls at PM were offered this. Hmmmmmmm I think university of the Bishops fit's.
Re: D6SN District Six Playoff Notes and Picks.
I was told by a solid source that a former Cambria County higher up, and I know that is general, recently paid the tuition for a player to go to Bishop Carroll who did not have the ability to pay. Not sure what you call that, generosity?? The player is a first year student and plays sports. What amazes me is that it always appears that the kids they help are athletes. You would think that average Joe Catholic would start getting ticked and want to know why this doesn't happen for band members and majorettes!!! I also notice that the schools are now known as Bishop McCort Catholic, Bishop Carroll Catholic and Bishop McCort Catholic. As far as I understand you do not have to be a Catholic to attend. They say that if you are Protestant with average religious believes and can run a football that will suffice. I find it odd that Carroll's success seems to depend on who the principal is. They do much better with male sports minded principals than a female principal who tries to maintain the focus of a true private Catholic education. This ramble is not about recruiting but just my perception of what I know and have witnessed over the years. It is what it is but i know if my son played through the entire parochial system and when he was a junior a Protestant transfer from a public school shows up and has his tuition paid and takes my son's place I would wonder how I would take that. Especially after I dumped cash in the system from day one.

So what if they recruit. They aren't unbeatable. This isn't a post about that so let's please not let it be flooded. They can be beaten in sports. Not like they are champs in state
Re: D6SN District Six Playoff Notes and Picks.
Yea, that's what the last post ended up as. Comic relief only guys. We know the facts
If only closed minds came with closed mouths
Re: D6SN District Six Playoff Notes and Picks.
Wow should not have said University got off point with that sorry.the other fact is what i was tryin 2 get across!
Re: D6SN District Six Playoff Notes and Picks.
The point I was trying to make is the unfair advantage that the small schools have over the private schools. Small schools can't go out and get a lineman if they need one. The PIAA should follow the lead of other states. Private schools play in thier own league and have thier own championship. But in the words of private school boosters "The PIAA will never do that, we give them more money".

How about we talk football, eh?
Penns Manor does a very good job game planning and they are a great staff. But that one comment did seem like a knock on the McCort coaching staff, come on those guys have all won before. Sheridan was the Offensive Coordinator in 2008-09 when they went a combined 27-2. I think both staffs know what they are doing.
Like I said in my preview, it all has to do with the line of scrimmage. Gap Barbin and the two massive tackles clog the middle. The game will depend a lot on Ryan Siwy and Dustin Belskey on the ends. They can't lose contain on Ferens, or the Comets will be lighting up the scoreboard quite a bit. McCort wants PM to pass the ball. Like I said McCort has forced 23 turnovers and have 4 defensive touchdowns. Thats the bread and butter.
Penns Manor hasn't seen much in terms of passing this season. The best passing team they have seen, they lost. Ligonier is Penns Manor's best win, and the Rams are a pure running team. McCort will try to establish the run the best they can, but they have not been very consistent in that department. Wyatt Jackson is the quicker back, and Belskey is the bigger back. I think Penns Manor can hold them in check. The Comets will need to get pressure on Tomkowski. Forest Hills did the best of that all season long. Still, McCort will feel pretty confident in passing. Spangler can go get it, and DiFrancesco has been another tough guy to stop. They may sprinkle in a traditional screen to Jackson, or a middle screen to Rugg or Siwy.
I think the special teams is the true difference. Spangler is being recruited as a college punter. He has made 7 Field Goals also, and had 3-4 touchbacks last week alone. Field position is a big aspect in this game, and I do not think people are truly appreciating that.
But Penns Manor has the best player in the game, and that can't be discredited. The Comets are nowhere close to where they are now without Danny Ferens. He truly is a special player, and opens up doors for the backs. Much respect to Danny, he's one of my favorite players I have seen in years. I really like watching him play Safety, something I think he can play in college.
I really feel it will be a close game, and it has nothing to do with the conference they have come from, but just because I think they will play well.

I agree with alot of the things crimson said... Both have good lines and one team passes where as the other runs. Both teams are well coached and it should be a good game. Mccort has very good special teams and pm has the overall best player on the field. BM has played a much better schedule this season and pm has major playoff experience. In the end it's all about how they will match up. Could be a good game

It will be interesting to see what ferens does on defense. Hes an awesome safety but Spangler is a great wr. Danny has played corner before in previous seasons. It might be a good strategy to move danny back to corner to go one on one with Spangler all night. Yes mccort has the best special teams by far.

Go one on one with Spangler with your best man, or even double team, and that opens up DiFrancesco on the other side. One of the things that make McCort's passing attack so dangerous.
"some may say you just got lucky, i personally believe you make your own luck by being good."
