Uncompetitive sports is just one minor symptom of this disease. The real losers are all the kids who have their school cirricullums watered down, programs cut and services discontinued just so these schools can stay independent and "keep their "identity".
Basically all of the things that true conservatives hold near and dear to their hearts.

Why thank you say oww.

What it comes down to is jellyfish union intimidated politicians continuing to allow failing piss ant school districts to suck (waste) money out of a system that is broke for fear that, if they stand up against this blatant waste of public resources, the unions will enact their vengeance against them come next election. The kids that need these resources to help raise them because their parents are absent or non-existent, are helpless. They do not have a voice. They cannot stand up and demand a stop to this waste. But the teachers union has a BIG voice. And they are heard loud and clear.

Even a Republican dominated legislature, as spineless and unpricipled as any democrap, cowers in the presence of the union -- refusing to do what is right -- just so they can get re-elected. It is disgusting and sickening to watch polititcians place their political aspirations ahead of severely disadvantaged kids.

You miss the point... The core ideals you espouse are the same reasons people don't want their small town schools to be consolidated away. Ironic, isn't it.
