Ligonier made it to the second round the past two seasons I believe. At least last year. Portage was D6 A runner up in 2008.

Usual - typical or customary way of things.

Re: Ligonier Valley or portage
Upon research,
Ligonier won one playoff game last season.
Portage lost in 2012 in the first round, did not make playoffs in 2011, won a playoff game in each 2010 and 2009, and won 2 in 2008.
So Portage did it once in their past 4 playoff trips. So I wouldn't exactly say its usual for them to be one and done. And Ligonier has proven they can do it, as they pulled it off last year.

Re: Ligonier Valley or portage
I would say A is very wide open, and 1 through 6 can probably beat each other. Penns Manor and Homer look to be legit, I think Portage can play, Bellwood obviously can, BC and BG should be battle tested as well.
In AA, Ligonier would have some more trouble. As Richland is clearly the best, with Central and Tyrone appearing to be in that next tier. But can Ligonier beat Central Cambria? Mt. Union? Huntingdon? Bald Eagle? I'd say they have a nice chance to do so. If Ligonier goes in 9-1, 10-0, they can draw a nice game at home as a 2-3 seed, and I'd think they can win that first game

I seen LV against Windber in a game Windber should of won. I don't consider Windber the favorite in district 5A. I just can't see LV competing in the tough district 6 AA. One and done for them

Re: Ligonier Valley or portage
It all depends about matchups.
If it all ended today....
1. Richland
8. Bald Eagle
Richland by 50
4. Ligonier
5. Mt. Union
I would take Ligonier at home.
3. Central Cambria
6. Central
Would be one heck of a game. Honestly don't know who I'd pick, that's how impressed I am with CC
2. Tyrone
7. Huntingdon
Tyrone
Richland would beat Ligonier by a lot. CC/Central winner against Tyrone would be a great game.
Richland against any of those 3 could be a good game, but Richland is the best of the 4.
That's how I would handicap the AA race right now.
If Class A ended today
1. Homer Center
8. Williamsburg
Homer by a lot.
4.Guilfoyle
5. Portage
I'll get a better feel for Portage after tonight, but BG is a good team that plays better competition.
3. Penns Manor
6. Juniata Valley
Could be a good game, I'd lean Penns Manor
2. Bellwood-Antis
7. Bishop Carroll
Would be one heck of a game, but Bellwood has more offense.
Homer-BG toss up.
Penns Manor Bellwood, I would take Bellwood.
Bellwood against BG/Homer would be good.
Obviously so much can change seeding wise before then. Again all hypothetical scenarios
